Its good you show the bad also. None of us are perfect even when we think we are. There is only one perfect One and I know I am not He. Even when we think we have everything under control, weather and the unknown is always out there. Thanks for the honesty and reality. Have an awesome and productive day. Stay safe.

Hi Phil! Yep, stick with pelletized lime so that it gets to the ground and not in your lungs and all over your tractor. Thanks for sharing!

Just found this channel from your other channel so here I am. I used to have one of those when I had a pecan orchard to spread granular fertilizer. I was wondering how much actually went where you wanted it. Take care and have a blessed day.

Thanks for visiting the new channel! That's just the thing. I have no idea how much product got on the ground. Definitely using lime pellets going forward. Thanks for watching

When I saw the broomsedge in the background, I thought... Yep, I'm in the same boat and lime is the answer! I'm going to give the pulverized a shot on a dead-still summer morning because I was comparing it with the pelletized available locally. The pulverized has a 25% higher amount of calcium carbonate, and 20% more volume per unit at the same price. For me, I think the drift and mess might be worth it? Or it could be a different story at the end of a day's worth of living in a lime cloud. 😄 Either way, I appreciate you sharing your experience. Cheers!

You answered my question on rate of application before I got to ask. Maybe keeping the spreader / 3point hitch at a lower height would help.

I did it with a spreader on the back of an atv a few years ago. The dust mixed with the sweat on my back and I got actual burns not to mention my eyes were toast but it did work lol.

I tried the same thing on a windy day last year and looked like a snowman when I was done glad I’m not the only one after that I found an actual Lyme spreader which drops the powder directly on ground with very little mess. Lol keep my whirlybird for seeds and fertilizer
@FlatCreekOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
haha. I'm sure glad I didn't go out and buy a couple tons of this stuff expecting to spread with spreader!

Yep that’s too dusty. I have a pull type auger spreader that works good with powdered or AG lime. I’ve also hired trucks to spread AG lime. If you want to do a big area might check on that. Last I got was $600 for 18 tons hauled and spread.
@FlatCreekOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
We did the spreader truck when we first got the property. Can't do it now around the trees, and that's where I need the lime the most, so I'll have to spread with smaller equipment that can get in the rows.
@countryislandhome77312 жыл бұрын
I just picked up a used Cosmo 500. You just saved me a lot of time trying to solve my spreader to quick hitch problem and stopped me from potentially making the same powdered lime mistake. Just don't do it. Thanks!

@FlatCreekOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
yeah, definitely not. I think even with little/no wind, this is just too dusty with this type of spreader

besides respiratory issues from prolonged exposure to the dust, I'm not aware of any health concerns from lime.

@@FlatCreekOutdoors well I Know that, But does it have any actual effects on people who are exposed to it? Because I Heard That It Can Be A lot worse an more dangerous than fertilizers.
