I used to do that with my often-played cars. Dishwasher soap, warm water and a medium-hair toothbrush to scrub the dirt away does the job nicely. But i haven't tried this method on Color Shifters with plastic bodies yet. I guess it should work just fine. Thanks for the tips Mike!

Actually, the best way to clean them is with baby wipes, the water based with no scent for delicate. I have redlines and 80s 90s and I am not using soap or brush. That can scratch the paint off. Just be careful when you clean them. Best advice from you neighborhood darkhunter3000, you tube video coming soon.

I do the same thing with all of Hot Wheels, regardless of condition or where I purchased them from. I put a small dab of oil on the Wheels and wipe excess oil off of the Wheels. You Inspire me to have a Great Hot Wheels Collection. THANK YOU.

Its funny that you mention how to wash your hot wheels! I use to do that when i was a kid way back in the late 60s early 70s! Like you said as kids we use to play with them in the dirt, just about anywhere! I use to wash them with hand soap, detergent, and also dishwasher soap. And they use to come out looking pretty much like new! The only thing that was harder to get to was the interior and the hair or any other lint that use to get caught on the wire suspension where the delrin wheels are. I use to try to pull them off with twisers small enough to get to them. Anyway thanks for the tutorial! We're all kids at heart and i still have my original sweet sixteens cars and many other redlines i collected over the years. Thanks😀👍

Mike! I’ve got a bit of a situation where i had some water damage around a cardboard box in the basement and at least a quarter of my still in box hotwheels cars are now full of mold and mildew, i sadly have to unbox these ones now, but i was wondering if there would be any problem with letting them soak in soapy water for a while, i want to get as much of the nasty smell and gunk off as possible, any advice appreciated. (they are all 2015 and up in this box)

Sorry to hear... If you do, make sure you dry them well with compressed air or a blow dryer.. You may want to get an Ultra Sonic Cleaner...? A friend of mine has been using one lately..

Thanks for the video, im sure there are people too paranoid to clean their cars for fear it might destroy it but i clean mine regularly as dust builds up but all i worry about is drying them properly so i put them in front of a fan for a while.

Did that to my speedtail. Had it for 2 years, not been washed. Just washed it today, and it looks just as good as the day I got it. Water needs to evaporate though, but it’s straight.

This video helped a lot he recently I’ve been finding a bunch of mine in my brothers hot wheels from our childhood to wash off because one of my brothers got me a display case that I hang on the wall and I was going to put them inside of there just to look at and I noticed they were all dirty with everything

Mike. I bought a used red hot wheels Ferrari and it was perfect except for one tiny black mark on the hood. I haven't been able to figure out what it is. I thought it might be a mark from a sharpie or maybe a scuff or scratch. I've tried removing it with McQuire's Ultimate Compound ... Fail! Then I tried marking over it with dry erase marker and wiping it off...Fail! My next two tries would be WD40 or McGuire's Scratch X. Also someone on a blog suggested using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. At this point I'm perplexed. Any ideas?

Try a Dry Erase marker over it. It might loosen it up enough to wipe it off.

It might be a small scratch or a black ink mark or a black sharpie mark. I don't know so I'm just trying different things.

How did I ever miss this gem? This is great and totally something I would do (have done;)) I use a an old tooth brush...you could use a new one from the dollar store too...if it's good enough for enamel teeth, it's good enough for Hot Wheels!

@@HotWheelsTV exactly, dry immediately, nice video. I dont submerge my cars in water. I just get all my cars new so cleaning I just use , fiber cloth and wipe dust off, use a little warm water on a q-tip, with a little regular bar hand soap mixed in water, sometimes I will use a clean soft cloth with a little warm soapy water on it. If I had to restore one that was used and completely dirty , I would use this method once, air blow the car immediately after I was done. This is a excellent way to clean a used hot wheel that needs major cleaning, great video brother.👍

Depends on the brand... I don't think you want to use anything that too aggressive. Dawn is mild and works well.

Just try to blow out what you can from the hubs. Some axles do rust. A can of compressed air will take care of that!

The metal parts are not iron, they are all non ferrous metals, thus ZAMAC. They only way they may oxidize is if you have something in your water like sulfur or calcium.

Tap the water out right after washing and get them under a fan or a space heater for 5-10 mins each side. As long as you get the water off right away they will not rust.

Just squirt the axles with a little WD40 or something like that. Spin them a little and dry them off. They will be fine.
