Oddly enough this is something I've thought about.

I was out on the trail in my 97 FZJ80 and I had forgotten to put my battery tie down in, and the positive terminal snapped from the battery bouncing up and down. I had no battery apart from the ground for hours and miles and had no idea until I shut it off and tried to start it again. It'll run without a battery off of the alternator alone!

I always just assumed my '85 60 series would be safe being carbureted and all but I never thought too much about the ignition 🤔⚡And, I recently put new carpet and a headliner in and it was definitely nerve racking but came out better than expected. I'll try just about anything once. Thanks for sharing.

Good job putting your own interior in! Carpet is one of my least favorite things to do.

I've noticed on my freinds 60 there is a hand crank slot on the front of the truck ?
@procruiser5 ай бұрын
Yep, and the crank pulley is set up to hand crank the vehicle to start it too. I’ve never tried it, but I want to.

Most Americans do not realize how screwed we would be as a result of an EMP attack. We are very reliant on electrical tech.
@procruiser5 ай бұрын
Yep, and not much protection for what provides it. Fingers crossed we just keep making it relatively uninterrupted!

I’ve been curious about an fj40 with the Cummins 6bt. Seeing that Land Cruiser have one had me thinking I should ask your thoughts on it. Good or bad idea and why? My fj40 is a 1974. Thanks

Even though I have seen it done, and I know some will disagree... Personally I think a 6BT is too big and too heavy for a 40.

@@procruiser that was my thought too as cool as it would be. I have a good running factory installed 1.5 f and 4speed in it which I’m ok running that combo. But I want to drive my 40 a lot after I’m done the restoration. Im leaning to a diesel for the mpg they give. Love the sound of a diesel in a cruiser too.

Not EMP related but, how do you mount the ARB twin compressor? Do you make your own custom bracket?
@procruiser5 ай бұрын
We make them. We've got different designs for all models with variations in design depending on the engine.

I have met people who lived in the time of the Carrington event one was a telegraph worker at the train station . Now sure they were old people and I was a child . One lost two husbands to steam tractors blowing up on them . Odd for sure but still she told me about the event of the EMP

Thanks for sharing. They say if that event happened today, the results would have been catastrophic.

Why is the 3FE your favorite motor?
@procruiser5 ай бұрын
First I should clarify that it's my favorite engine "for 40 series" First of all, swapping in a 3FE preserves all Toyota DNA and that's important. I also like the perfect balance of tech and feel. It doesn't change the driving experience too drastically, but enough to make it really worth it. I drive 140 miles to work and back every day, over 2 mountain passes and a 3FE / H55F combo outperforms even the healthiest 2F. It also just looks at home in a 40 engine compartment. Even though there are lots of non Toyota engines that have better performance and or economy, they all look out of place when you raise the hood of a classic Land Cruiser.
