@@byhsu6140 And also a death trap. The doors are paper thin and on trails you have to move your body around and shift the center of gravity to prevent it from rolling over. It also can't negotiate a lot of ditches or cross deep rivers due to its ultra short wheelbase and low wade depth. I've driven one before and love how light it is on mud and sand. But most people who have never driven a Jimny before view it through rose tinted glasses.

This is a new era for Toyota. I fear for Honda. As a Honda loyalist up until now, I will most likely be jumping ship next purchase unless the Toyota dealer network changes my mind. I will take a hybrid 4 cylinder than a V6 with cylinder deactivation any day. Honda's business strategy is so slow to adapt, Toyota is going to kill them as long as they can supply the demand. I've heard people who ordered Rav4s, got screwed by dealers then went and bought a CRV. That is the only way Toyota is losing, by poor supply and bad players on the dealership level.

I don't think the spare tire will be on the tailgate. Toyota stopped having it there on the Rav4 due to higher repair costs when in an accident. The rear glass was breaking due to the tire being forced into it. Plus it makes it so the rear hatch has to open sideways which is not as desirable as lifting it up.

U.S dealers would put an insane markup on these.

I just bought a 24 4 runner Tr D pro and it had a lot of options but it was 59. I think the new one will be much higher.

No to the 1.5 liter turbocharger 4 banger , Honda already did that and look where that is going 🤦🏽‍♂️

Kirk, is this mini fj cruiser going to be the north american version of the hilux champ? same chassis? any resemblance with corolla pickup?

We'll see. It could be hilux champ platform..but that would reduce its chances of coming to NA

Yes, that oversized D Pillar is a silly homage to the FJ Cruiser.

Please give us an option to spec a non-hybrid manual transmission. Also TBH Toyota offering an aftermarket TRD Turbocharger would also be amusing too🤣

That’s a lot of off road vehicles, Lexus gx, Lexus lx, Land Cruiser, 4Runner , fj Land Cruiser. Where will it be made? They gotta be moving some of their production out of the factory that makes all the land cruisers in Japan. The fact we are seeing the test 4Runner here in the USA says it might be made in North America.
@KirkKreifels

They have no production lines available for 4runner or FJ in USA. Japan is likely the only place in the Tahara factory.

The dashboard shown is very similar to the Hilux Champ/IMV 0, if not exactly the same. That vehicle also has the 2.7 L 2TR-FE engine as an option. So my guess is it will be built in Thailand along side that vehicle. Of course the Corolla Cross was also first available in Thailand before anywhere else, but this might need more adjustments.

I hope to god that they keep that tire on the trunk lid. That design feature needs to come back into popularity. It's both plain cool and also extremely helpful!
