Fantastic speech Mr. Chomsky. Thanks to the hosts for providing a voice of reason. This comment section is atrocious.

You said _"This comment section is atrocious."_ Oh no... Chomsky is a legend. Always weird trolls on his videos with strange conspiracies. I'm afraid to read the rest of the comments now... lol

@@rcchristian2 care to elaborate, or are you just talking out your ass? I was one of the first comments here. What was posted at that time was very limited. But hey, I guess it's easy to waltz into the comment section 6 months later and start criticizing people's comments instead of leaving something constructive. I am also well aware of the criticism against Chomsky. I realize he's an anti-Communist, is sometimes s hypocrite and obviously his word is not sacrosanct. But his body of work is admirable either way, and he still has relevant perspective worthy of listening to. You, on the other hand...

Canada just like Australia , like professor Mearsheimer openly told the Australian press conference just 2 years ago " The Australia don't have much of choice to side with China ( your major trading ) and the USA , American policy is " either you with us or against us !" and if don't , Uncle Sam is very unforgiving and will be angry ! just check the history of all South America country ! ! Bad luck to the Canadian , because it's the same predicament goes to Canada ! now of course the Aussie is allow to be the mouth pieces for the US in the pacific and Asian region . the current government telling us .... WE ARE SAFE ! ! Thank you Sir Mr Chomsky for spreading the truth , there's always large audience when he appear ..all the best to him .

While Professor Chomsky's narrative identifies US foreign policy as complicit in aggravating tension with China on all fronts, I must say that Elizabeth May stated very well the complexity of humanity's crisis in the face of juggernaut superpowers, Chinese & American, and I wonder what Mr. Chomsky's response would have been had he the foreknowledge of Canadian Chinese relations Harper to present. Elizabeth is one of the few rays of light in Canadian political sphere.

don't just blame Trudeau on our china stance. Her is a weak leader and I believe he's doing American bidding grudgingly. Pollivere is many times more a lackey of the US. Just listen to his vial stance in the house of commons

As wonderful as this is to see, it makes me sad to understand if we thought the ME had more potential our best and brightest would devote nearly 2 hours to combating Islamophobia in Canada. Sorry but I could easily make an argument that mulsims/arabs face significantly more discrimination and danger in Canada as a result of a public discourse predicated on a monolithic distortion. You recently made a piece on Canada and the ICJ with speakers attacking Canada's stance, so it's worth pointing out how much domestic Islamophobia contributes to a lack of political will to enforce our laws regarding this issue.

I'm in complete favour of Canada/China negotiations but how do you negotiate with a nation that does not adhere to the rule of law? Now that Michael Spavor and Michael Korvig are home it was quite clear they were imprisoned solely as retribution for the arrest of Huawei Executive Meng Wanzhou who should have been released after 6 months b/c the US dept. of Homeland Security was not forthcoming with any charges. She was eventually released for that very same reason after what, 3 years of house arrest? That's insane. But don't jail innocent people working in your country on trumped up charges out of some childish tit-for-tat battle. In fact, my greatest worry of China is their puerile knee-jerk reactions to international criticism. The Chinese government is not a rational and reasoned entity. Chomsky was great as usual. His ability to present non-conventional opinions WITHOUT standing on a soap box and preaching is always welcome and refreshing.
