I feel this every year once their season comes and they start appearing near the waters and fields near my place. We have a known stray cat problem, like cats tearing up insulation and fight mating on porches right in front of front doors. But the geese, even with (or especially with) fledglings, get left alone. I grew up in Alabama, and I remember when I was a kid seeing tons of Canadian geese just hanging around chilling smack in the middle of winter. I turned to my mom and said, “Mom, I thought geese flew south for the winter!” She looked kind of confused by the question and answered, “We ARE south.” For some reason, that completely blew my mind. 😂 So yeah, we have plenty of geese where I’m from, just at a different time of year.

Geese can fight different kinds of predators and likely the Goose WILL kill the predator if it is desperately hungry to not bail out in time. A good grabbing bite from the male that went high up defense, would have crippled the hawk and the geese are already wicked aggressive so they'd kill that hawk if they got em lol

One day I thought someone hurt the couple because they both werent there, on the ground near the nest and her eggs were exsposed. Well what do you know about 15 secs after im parked by the nest, they come flying down!! The loyalty and love these two have is remarkale and admirable! We had one pair mate and build nest next to office behind the scrub’s. We put out food/water bowl for her. She would let me get close enough to toss feed near her so she didn’t need to get up that much. This morning when I got to work I checked on her and she stood up to reveal chicks. It was a very special moment. Although papa came quickly waddling and hissing- he has never attempted to harm me. Just being a good papa. Amazing experience! Named the first chick scrambled!

Canada - such a polite country. Translation: Geese parents: Sir - could you kindly not eat our children? Hawk: I'm terribly sorry for trying. Have a nice day [Flies away]

Naw man, the geese are fuelled by the pent up anger of Canada. And that’s why we are so nice.

Geese honestly are probably the #1 parents in the animal kingdom. They’ll do anything to protect their gusslings

There's a bunch of these geese that nest in a nearby lake. The lake has a walking trail all the way around it, so the geese are fairly habituated to humans. You can actually get quite close to the babies during their nesting season, but only if you're carefully disinterested and stay moving on the path XD

I've had a few run ins with geese in my life and they don't give a sh*t. They spread their wings and become the same size as you. They throw down if you get too close.
