Here in india i pay around CAD 80 for unlimited home fibre connection 100mbs speed for whole year , around 48 CAD for whole year of cell phone plans with unlimited 5g data & calls , taxes are included in plans

The telcos always complain that Canada's geography is difficult to navigate, so it's hard to provide service in remote areas. Horsedung: signals are wireless, and we now use satellites. CRTC is to blame for this. The government gets a HUGE financial benefit from these telcos, so they allow this duopoly to continue.

I just switched providers after years with Virgin, irony is I went with Bell (Virgin's parent company) Didn't save much even with BYOP, but I gained other benefits which made it a practical move. On the flip side, I previously travelled in Europe and unforeseen circumstances meant I had to extend my stay far longer than envisioned. Consequently, I had to put my phone number in dormancy for a monthly fee to retain until I returned. In Europe I went with a monthly top up which was much cheaper than the dormancy fee I was paying (conversion included). The top up included unlimited minutes, North America and Europe unlimited calling and text - attachments. It cost me more to retain my number in absence than it did to pay for service far superior whilst travelling. Providers try to justify this by saying that the cost of infrastructure to provide service over larger coverage area's than in Europe are their greatest cost.

The thing is -{ if you have any sense of what these companies are doing} They are stringing you along, And we shouldn't have to do this but, If you really think about it We the public Own the company so we need to keep those so called regulators in line - It's not the other way around. It's either That or All of them are Lying to us who pay there wages. Period!

I just found out I was double charged for a plan change, via Rogers. Two months of plan change fees. For one change.

It’s a lack of competition, USA has over 100 telcos , we here have 10-16 , we’ve tried in 2013 to bring in US carriers here, but the regulations are to protect the big three .

I just ditched Roger’s after 18 years yesterday for Fido (yes Roger’s I know) 34.99 for 50gb and unlimited Canada wide calling and text.

I pay $25 a month for unlimited calls and text with 1gb, and for my wife's plan $30 a month for 15 gb. We can transfer data to eachother and unused data is available the next month. Internet plan at home is $43 a month unlimited at 100mbps.

@@dianawanders3417 Fizz for the phone plan. My wife and I switched plans since last comment and now have 4gb, unlimited text amd calls for 22$ a month. The prices vary all the time, but once you choose a plan, the price is locked

Yeah, honestly, the prices are ridiculous. How would you go about finding a plan with the purchase of a new phone? For example I would like to upgrade my phone because the camera doesn't function that well anymore and the screen is cracked. But I can not settle myself to pay for soo much. Haha, literally with the wasting time stuff I always commute or do errands while I'm "waiting"
