Your take on a Chevy pickup won't sell as an EV because the price is $91,000 suggests you should have done a little more research. Most Chevy pickup trucks start at over $60,000 with an ICE engine, with some ICE pickups models, such as the high country, for over $90,000 with an ICE. Just as there are people who will pay over $90,000 for an ICE pickup, there are people who will pay over $90,000 for an EV pickup truck, or $78000 for the 3wt model. In truth, the overall price of EVs has dropped them to be close to par with the same comparable model of ICE vehicles.

Scotty, as a resident of British Columbia I can tell many horror stories as to how bad the drivers are here. There was a clip on the news showing a woman in her Tesla in rush hour traffic crossing a bridge, fast asleep. After witnessing the level of skill of the Tesla operators, I think it would be misnomer to call them drivers, they are people who sit in the left front seat.

I’m from neighboring Washington State, and I’m familiar with driving in British Columbia. Driving in your Province is a lot like driving in upstate New York, or in Pennsylvania. Compared with the Western U.S. States, B.C. has fewer freeways, and more reliance on Provincial highways that may or may not have more than two lanes. A number of Provincial routes in the greater Vancouver area run right down the middle of the downtown areas of cities like Cloverdale and Coquitlam-and they carry truck traffic. B.C. roads are built with steeper grades, sharper curves and are narrower than we expect to see in Washington and Oregon. Believe me, this is NOT a complaint, it’s just an observation! I love B.C., and its people, too. I’m glad that your Province has taken the lead in North America and acted to prevent self driving cars from ruining the motoring experience on our continent.

2005 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6, was some other level of car. Extra big gas tank. Could start in any weather (even Canada winter), and no parts wore out besides the expected. Really, after putting on as many miles as most would no longer wish to continue using it, it held strong. Finally took 2 trucks at the same time on the highway to put that champion down…. Almost me too.😅

These features, which are designed to “assist” drivers who basically can’t drive or for people who have multiple distractions (drivers with kids) while driving, should be optional. If you need them then buy them. But as for the rest of us who CAN drive and don’t need all these extra features we shouldn’t be forced to pay for them.

I'm looking at buying a car later this year, and people keep laughing at me because I am adamant about it being a older vehicle. Wierdest part is I cannot convince them the 60's Mustangs, Fairlanes, Galaxies, and F-series trucks I am looking at are simultaneously cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain, AND more reliable than their pos with half a dozen computers in it. They act like those classics break down when you just look at them funny, but refuse to realize they seem to be sending their vehicle to get repairs meltiple times a year. Admitedly they do abuse them too ,but still not what I'd consider 5 shop visits in a year level of abuse having seen some 70's and 80's light duty trucks that were used for work a heavier duty truck really should be doing.

I have to say that with the software updates made by Tesla over the past year, not only does FSD finally work, but it works beautifully. I have gone from writing the feature off entirely to using it everywhere I go. It handles even rush hour traffic on one of the busiest road systems in the US. And yes, I keep my hand on the wheel and my eyes on the road just in case, but when I am tired or distracted feeling, I think the FSD does as good or better job than I could. And it is surprising to realize how much workload it relieves you from. Now when it comes to my wife's Toyota, the assisted driving is just not worth turning on, but that is another story.

Leasing is a great deal…for the car dealership or leasing company. Cars typically depreciate the most over the first 2-3 years of ownership. It’s no coincidence that most car leases are structured for 3 years. Essentially, your lease payment reflects that initial depreciation, plus the money factor (interest). So, you return the car to the leasing company AFTER you’ve paid for the depreciation on their car. Then you either have to buy out the same car at a predetermined price, or lease another. Either way you’ll never be without a car or lease payment, which is their plan. Far better to find the car you like, negotiate your best price, pay cash, or put 50% down and finance the balance for no more than 48 months. Best rate car loans usually can be prearranged through your credit union or local bank. That’s my customary procedure. Cheers.

Every time I start to consider an electric truck, I always check the current price tag and if it is a hybrid. I use my gas truck for work not a limo. The price tag is ridiculous and counterintuitive to the purpose of the truck. I would only purchase a hybrid so I have a power supply for tools and equipment. An all electric truck is just not going to get me anywhere I need to go on one charge and because I have work to do I CANNOT stop to charge it. HOWEVER the batteries and the fire hazard they pose a non negotiable deal breaker.

Big 3 is obsessed with a past that never existed. Instead of focusing on a reliable, attractive car for the masses (like a RAV4 hybrid for example, 400k units per year in the US, fast as a hot hatch form the 90s, and 40 mpg) they focus on putting 700hp engines in a vehicle that cannot brake or corner safely (Wrangler). Every time they are bailed out, they make a few half-hearted attempts to compete and change their ways, then they are right back pushing V8 and other low mpg cars.

Nothing wrong with V8's, some of the most dependable and reliable vehicles have an 8 cylinder under the hood. Give the consumers options, if you like rinky dink 4 cylinders and weak v6's that's cool. But there will always be a market for a full size truck with a solid V8.

I don’t think a turbo powered engine is good for off-road use at all in my opinion because you have to spool it up to get any power out of it and then by the time it’s spools up your rear tires are spinning in your wet front lawn so turbo I’d rather have a six cylinder naturally aspirated engine for any kind of off-road use, especially considering it may suck in waterbut most people buy these vehicles and they never see a stick

My old 325i e30 has 750 k km on the clock and the engine is still perfect. and my 525i E34 has 350 k km on the clock and still perfect, these new cars use oil, smokes after 2 years. Nothing is made like the old days. These small turbo cars are fast and economical, but what you save on fuel you will pay on repairs after 60 k on the clock.
