This was such a lovely video. I plan on taking this trip with my husband and was debating on whether to take the Vancouver to Banff route or Banff to Vancouver route. How did you like your route and how far was the Fairmont in Banff to downtown? Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you. We really enjoyed our trip. My advice is to avoid going during the summer. In Banff, the lakes were extremely overcrowded. Also, we went in August and we barely avoided the forest fires along the train route. Many passengers in late August experienced cancellations or hours long bus rides instead of the train because the train route was closed. Also we actually experienced lower visibility at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake because of smoke from fires miles away. I recommend going in late Spring or early Fall.

We took a small group tour. Be careful of the double decker busses. They’re inconsistent and overcrowded. Also Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are way too crowded during the summer. If we go again, we would go in the spring or fall when kids are in school.
