Sometimes if it's a winter BMQ and its really crappy and icy weather, a lot of times officers will run circuits for 5 am PT or do something more enjoyable closer to a gym 12 class. Not exactly badminton but could involve an intense snowball fight for 3 minutes to expose you to the cold, but then 20 minutes of circuits. Good times for weekend BMQ pt DP1 will have more intense pt.

Hey Desmond! Great videos... thanks for taking the time to do this. Right now I am looking for information on how to apply to the Army, but I have a lot of questions and concerns. I am a graphic designer, and during this time of pandemic I have the time to think about if I want to continue with this profession, and the answer is no LOL. I am looking forward to a change in my professional path, and the Army is my first option. As I am almost 40, and I have a family, you probably might guess that I have responsibilities like a mortgage, loan car, etc... So, I will be able to fulfill my responsibilities during my training? After my training, when I will be just starting in the Army and the salaries are not that high, it will be enough to fulfill my responsibilities? Those are my biggest concerns... Thanks!

Yes, I agree that at least a 6-8 week of physical exercise preparation before undergoing the application (if one is out of shape). Additionally, would the application process and requirements for the Reg force and reserves be major similarities, or would there be distinct differences? Furthermore, what is your perspective about the lifestyle of living as a full-time reserve member in the Canadian Army?
@alvindurochermtl3 жыл бұрын
From my personal experience more needs to be said about the exercise bit. It isn't just cardio but importantly, building muscles especially your thighs and back and shoulders this is something I wish someone had told me when I joined up. The kind of physical in the army is very different and specific and not quite the same as training athletes. As opposed to popular belief you actually don't run that much in proportion to carrying heavy kit and walking long distances (Tactical Advance to Battle, or TABBING) For that you can't be just skin and bones no matter how fit you think you already are. Otherwise you can be living home or in your own civilian apartment or house still even if you are a full-time Reserves and working out of your Armoury or even your local base. In that case it would be not much different from a government 9-5 job unless your need to go to the field or need to support an exercise for instance.

Applied to Reserves for Infantry. I think right now The armed forces is doing a hiring blitz. I passed the FORCE test on the 31st of august. Passed the CFAT on the 7th of September. I have medical tomorrow (the 14th of September) and the interview on the 17th of September. So everything in the time span of a month. The sergeant explained to us that 1. If we fail the CFAT we are given another opportunity after 2 months. But if you fail a second time, third attempts are RARELY given. and 2. If all goes well for us, we will be going to be starting BMQ as early as the end of October 2021.

Thanks! I've got a question that I've been wondering for a while that's not fitness related. Its about watches. There is no "standard" watch that you wear correct? Is there an Armed forces recommendation for watches? Are you limited to anything sold on Canex? Or are you allowed to wear just bout whatever you want as long as it isn't too flashy? You can find allot of info about what other armed forces use for watches around the world but for Canada, unlike other countries, there's not allot of history around armed forces equipment like watches that I've found. My Dad served in the 70s but he's got nothing for me either other than he bought his own that ended up in a trash bin cause he couldn't afford anything decent with a good Water resistance rating back then from what I understand. 😅
