Canadian Classics: CN GP9RM Trio Heads for London

On May 25th, 2024, I ventured into Canada to chase CN 568 with three 1950s-built GP9RMs still in service for the big Canadian class 1! I began my day by following the trio out of Kitchener, Ontario after the passing of a Via Rail passenger train. Work stops at Stratford, Belton, and the former GMD Plant in London allowed me to catch the train numerous times during its trek. I spent my chase accompanied by a few Canadian railfans who showed me some great spots along the Guelph Sub! Special thanks to them.

Thank you, Sam, for this video adventure of your trip to Canada on 25 May 2024 to capture this trio of rebuilt GP9s from the 1950s. Even though these GP9s were rebuilt, it is still wonderful to see 1950 era engines still producing revenue some 60+ years after they were originally built. The drone footage was fantastic. Thanks. That was pretty much all the switching they did in London. They dropped their one car and then left for Thorndale.

Nice find. CN loves their GP9s! Also, what's with the extra set of ditch lights? I thought that was only a BC Rail thing.

I believe those ditchlights are magnetic and are supposed to be used on units with burnt out ditchlights. I guess they never took them off!
