I agree, it's now a state of "Nannyizm" whereby everyone is mollycoddled like babies. I know some older folks that came here in the 50's and they never got any Government Handouts but had to work. They gave credit to a lady that gave them a room in her house if they would babysit her Children. Then they got jobs and made their way thru life. There was absolutely no Government handouts back then. These people had no family or friends in Canada, but made many good friends of all types. The house that they eventually bought was filled full of people from different races and everyone would have a great time together all because they loved the Game of Cricket! We all need to get back to those days when there was unity and laughter and far less hate and criminality.

On housing and the comparison to the late fifties....the land was wide open there was room for many many subdivisions...my father a carpenter called them funghi ( mushrooms) he would go by a field one day.. six months later like mushrooms houses had sprung up....
