Wild story about your family history. That's cool. Thanks for sharing

I only visited the Outer Hebrides for the first time last year. Can't wait to get back there one day! There's also a youtuber called Liam Brown who's walked the length of the Hebrides (among other, even longer walks). The standing stones at the beginning are the Callanish standing stones, well worth a visit if you ever get the chance. I've been lucky enough to see White Tailed Sea Eagles on the Isle of Mull as well as on Raasay, just east of Skye. I've seen the plane take off from Barra beach, it's quite a sight!

That bit in the intro, were he is cliff climbing, is from the first episode of this series - North Devon . In that episode he visits areas round Devon, an area at the very bottom of England

Robson Green is a national treasure. Started out as an actor, his most notable TV show was Soldier, Soldier. He's done some comedy stuff, and even a couple of music cd's with his onscreen mate from the show Soldier, Soldier. His accent and cheeky ways have endeared him into the hearts of the British public. It was nice to hear about your family story. White tailed sea eagles are on a breeding program to populate other areas of the UK starting with the Isle of wight, 6 young Eagles were released a few years ago. They had gps tags attached and they would fly for many miles a day. There's a small documentary about them on you tube.

He did those songs with Jerome Flynn, who he was with in Soldier Soldier, he actually pops up in the 2nd episode from this series. He lives in Pembrokeshire now. They do some kayaking together "Tales from the Coast With Robson Green - Episode 2 - Pembrokeshire - 2017 HD"

The Scottish, or in particular the people of Clydebank , which is a town were the Clyde river runs through , are very famous for high quality ship building, so much so that "Clyde built" is an expression of a high quality product . Clydebank is also known for its giant blue crane called The Titan. When you get people in those small isolated communities, life is work to them. Live off the land, sell your excess wares to local traders in exchange for stuff you don't have. Very old timey living

I haven't been to the Outer Hebrides, but my parents had a long retirement on the glorious Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. The name derives from a spelling mistake. The Governor of Britannia, Agricola, sent the Roman fleet round Scotland about 80 AD. He sent the records to the great Library of Alexandria, so the Egyptian geographer Ptolemy told us about the area. He mentioned two islands, both called 'Ebuda' - I suspect North and South Uist. The Hebrides were so remote that 'Ebuda' got misspelt 'Ebrida', and nobody corrected it. Similarly, 'tweed' should be 'tweel'. I wish Robson had mentioned more about the 'language of heaven'. This is of course Scottish Gaelic ( pronounced Gallic), which is still used in the islands. It is a Celtic language, totally different from English. If you want to hear it, it has its own TV channel, BBC Alba. I have read that a man called Angus lived on the Long Island( as the archipelago is often called), and he was the tallest man whose height was natural who is ever recorded. (7ft 7in?) Other giants have had glandular problems, and are one-offs; his relatives were also very tall. The rock that the islands are made of - mainly the Lewisian Gneiss - is very old indeed. 2,800,000,000 years? The religious position is curious. The northern Outer Hebrides are Protestant, and rather strictly so; but the Reformation never got to the southern islands like Barra, so they have always been Roman Catholic. I'm told one of the glories of the Outer Isles is the machair ( pronounced mahhair ); we had some on Mull. Those wonderful white sands are made out of shells. These form dunes, which are often carpeted with beautiful wild flowers.

p.s. Robson Green, the presenter of this video, is a British actor. He used to play an ambulance driver, who then studied to become a paramedic in the long-running tv medical drama 'Casualty' (which is / was the old term for the 'A & E' - which stands for the 'Accident & Emergency' department*) ...equivalent to America's (& Canada's?) 'E.R' Emergency Room... ...but which these days consists of the 'A & E', the 'AAU', and 'Resus' depts* He also played in a tv series called (if I recall it correctly ?!) "Soldiers", where he joined up with fellow actor Jerome Flynn. They had (at least one) 'hit record' singing together as 'Robson & Jerome' ... Robson has made a few programmes about different areas of interest and natural beauty, such ss this one in the 'Outer _Heb_rid_ees' 😊 (Hebrides), and, along the Northumberland coast, (possibly in and around 'Bamber Castle') etc... (I think he's from around that area: Northumberland) 🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️🇬🇧😏🖖

My step dads last name was Bamber. Is that name common over there?
@brigidsingleton1596
@brigidsingleton1596 5 ай бұрын
@@pi1872 I have no idea if Bamber is a popular / well-known surname over here, as I'm a Londoner, and Bamber Castle is in Northumberland - on the North East of England...right up in the far right corner butting up against Sunderland, heading towards Newcastle ("Geordie land"!!) but there is a guy whose first name is Bamber - Bamber Gascoigne who used to present an intellectual quiz with two teams of university students, "University Challenge" and each different team from different universities, attempts to win each week going forward into quarter- and semi- finals to win the prestigious University Challenge "Cup" plus the "fame" of having achieved so high a competition placing in the academic world of intellectual subjects, covering music, history, the Arts, politics, literature etc. Bamber Gascoigne was renowned for knowing most of the answers himself, not just reading the questions / answers on hus cards!! Currently, the quiz is still (I think?!) running but the Question Master is now Jeremy Paxman...but of course, sorry, that doesn't answer your question. The only other person I've heard of with the surname of 'Bamber' is the son (or, possibly the adopted son) by the name (again, I think, sorry for my uncertainty, the story goes back a few years now) Jeremy Bamber ...of 'White House Farm' notoriety. It's definitely _not_ a happy story (and includes the deaths of five people, including two young boys) so perhaps I ought to leave it there... It was just that the name you mentioned triggered some memories from watching tv news... There is, (or was,) a tv film made about it shown on 'Netflix' ...not sure if available in Canada🇨🇦 though, but I expect Google knows of it. 🇬🇧😟 So sorry. ☹️

p.p.s. Apparently (my daughter looked it up for me) Jerome Flynn sang "Unchained Melody" with Robson Green in 1995 and was a _very_ popular song. Robson Green was born in Northumberland and raised in Dudley, (Northumberland) so, not a "Geordie" afterall ...sorry about my earlier incorrect assumptions. 🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🖖

kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJSlmamJprFraM0si=ZeDmXWGi6aj5BWOa A Reaction video by an American named Connor, (living in Rhode Island, New England) reacting to 'Bamburgh Castle' (it's a two year old video, but it only just appeared on my screen), so having seen the subject matter, I thought you _might_ want to take a look at it before / or instead (?!) of 'diving in to it' yourself? Have fun! (I haven't watched this particular video being reacted to by Connor ...oh and, by the way, he has 'ADD', so may seem a bit "fidgety"...)
