The thermal qualities of stone is the same as any other material, its just a hard outer shell. All thermal measurements are down to other factors like internal insulation, roof condition, windows and doors etc. Stone, brick, concrete or timber construction makes no difference.

I would love to say there’s a fail safe way to know how to pronounce our place names but I think you do blooming well actually! The only tip that might help is if it’s got a ‘burgh’ on the end (Bamburgh, Edinburgh) it’s usually, not always because that would be too easy but usually, pronounced ‘bruh’ no idea why. We’re just a contrary bunch.

Hello from the edge of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales! Thank you for your lovely video, it seems like you may have gained an awful lot more friends recently, perhaps a few pernickety ones too 😂 we’re generally a friendly bunch over here, especially in the north and just appreciate anyone who appreciates our beautiful island so thank you 😊 it must’ve taken some superhuman effort to edit this!

There are 692 castles in Wales (where I live) alone! A few of them aren't even all that ruined. (Most castles in Wales were actually destroyed during the C17th English Civil War, oddly.) The loony Normans really loved their castles.

Hi P "Everything is built so close to each other" Most towns and cities in the UK have existed for hundreds of years, long before the car. So things needed to be close together (walkable) with most roads being narrow, maybe just enough for a horse and cart. Mostly we built to last, hence a lot of old buildings to be seen. Keep Reacting!

I was seriously ill i got taken to hospital in an ambulance and spent 2 months there. In that time i had mri scan several blood transfusions and other things similar to that, nerve tests, cameras in my stomach, and a whole list of things ive forgot, also was seen several times by a person who checks on your mental side of being stuck in hospital which was about 45 minutes each visit, then i had physiotherapy there and 3 good meals a day, then was brought home and dropped off in my house. It didn't cost me a penny. I can't even imagine living in a country where your well being has a price.

That was a good video. I grew up in south Devon and now live just over the border, the Tamar river, in Launceston in Cornwall. I've been to nearly all these places over the years, even lived up outside Chagford for a little while right up on Dartmoor which was a nice escape for a bit. Both Cornwall and Devon are a beautiful landscape. Even though Dartmoor is in Devon it's slopes reach the very border of Cornwall and i can see Dartmoor clearly from my window ... it's only a few miles away, and if i look in the opposite direction, there's Bodmin moor in Cornwall also. It's a fairly wet climate stuck between two moors. I do like Penzance, ... it's a little depressed these days, not quite like the bustling, busy town i remember as a teenager but alot of places are like that, it has a rail link which makes it easy to get to though.

The really beautiful ornate guns were probably made especially for the king and royals not for everyone. As for losing space becsuse of the height of the ceilings haha have you seen the size of the castle! Also The higher and more ornate the more money and priveledge and gentrified...

Amongst many others this short film missed the original historic home of golf during its piece on St Andrews history, the equally scenic Borders area with beautiful small towns from Peebles down through Selkirk and Hawick. Also missing was the many towns on our Ayrshire coast and the stunning Ailsa Craig, along with the peninsulas of Cowal to Kintyre in Argyll and the West Highland way hiking route and train line from Glasgow to Fort William and Mallaig often rating among the most beautiful rail journeys in the world. The smaller islands of Barra, Islay ,Iona and many more of the south west and the larger Northwestern Islands of Lewis and Harris are also of historic importance as are the far northern islands of the Shetlands whose historic importance for Scottish/Nordic connections through the Viking settlements beginning over a millennium ago. There are far too many to list in such a short film and for anyone planning to visit Scotland the only possible reason not to would be the weather which is temperamental too say the least.

Google: Which UK country has the most castles? Wales, a country on the western edge of England, has more castles than any other in the United Kingdom! Total castle numbers vary from over 500 to 641, depending on who you talk with, but either way, you won't have to drive far between castles!

Also you might notice that the source that claims Wales does is the Welsh tourist board, their is actually a list of English medieval castles showing over 800, if you do want a good fact about Welsh castles Wales has the most castles in the world per square mile.

Google: Why did beavers go extinct in the UK? These charismatic creatures were once widespread throughout Britain. However, beavers were heavily hunted for their fur and scent glands that produce a substance called castoreum. By the beginning of the 16th century the beaver became extinct from the country. Their absence has changed landscapes ever since. Wild beavers, and those in captive release schemes, can be found across Britain. In Scotland beavers have been declared a native species and they enjoy a European Protected Species status. The largest wild population in Scotland lives in the Tay catchment, and has spread into the River Forth catchment.
