Oma = grandma. One of the shortest but sweetest names for the older generation.😊 It brings up images of smiling, slightly wrinkles face on a comfortably plump body, dito for the well-kept clothes and apron, stirring a batter in a large bowl, with the grandchild sitting on the countertop, dangling their feet, happily awaiting the laddle to lick off.😊 That's how I remember my Omas.

It is called Schwarzwälder Kirsch (blackforrest cherry) because one of the components that you have to taste is Kirschwasser, cherry water. Kirschwasser is a fruit brandy

The Bee sting cake (Bienenstich) had to have honey inside or at the top in the icing of almonds and Honey 😊

Yepp, and I suppose it got its name when eaten outside. Cause it tends to attract bees in swarms.😂😂

Vegan cakes have come a long way, they are just as delicious as non-vegan ones. But don't be fooled: the calorie content is just as high!

I come from Germany and worked in a private bakery. The difference between cake and tart is different. The cake is baked completely in the oven and is then ready. In the case of a cake, the bases are baked and processed further as soon as they are cold.

The "Frankfurter Kranz" pronounciation was quite good. 👍 Perhaps I am happy about this, because I am from Frankfurt. Lived there for many years. 😃

Hello, interesting video. I love our cakes and tarts 🎂🥮. Sometimes I also bake: Black Forest cake, Frankfurt Crown cake, Lübeck Marzipan cake, Bee sting, Grand Duchess Luise cake or any other cream cake. I've tried vegan cakes before, but most of them don't taste that good. The butter, the cream and the eggs are simply missing. And I understand what you said: My parents had a large orchard and at harvest time there were all kinds of dishes made from rhubarb, apples, plums, cherries, gooseberries, currants and so on. Sometimes it was just too much. But everything had to be used up. B.t.w. your pronunciation of German words is quite good 👍 Greetings from Germany from Gereon.

Schwarzwälder Kirsch = Black Forest Cherry. Made from Genoise (in German called Biskuit), but with a lot of cocoa in the dough to make it dark. The Genoise is then sliced in three plates, so you can put some cream and cherries between them. The cream can also be colored with cocoa, part of the cherries are soaked in Black Forest cherry brandy. (Alternatively you can soak the middle plate with cherry brandy.) The whole is then topped and plastered with cream and chocolate chips. The word "Torte" is actually related to Italian torta. It is used mostly for creamier or more elaborate cakes. "Bienenstich" (which can be translated as bee sting) is a flat cake from yeast dough baked with a layer of sugared and buttered almond chips on top, which is sliced horizontally and then filled with cream. 5:40 The weekly farmer's market in my town is in operation for more than 870 years. We know that, because in 1153 a peasant stabbed the sheriff (but not the deputy) during a quarrel at the market. Rhubarb pie was also for a long time my favorite, beside cheese cake. Nowadays I love the apple cake with cheese cream topping my mother started to make regularly about a decade ago and had also my own first tries in making it: shortcrust pastry as base (with reduced butter content to make it more flaky), half apples on top, shortly baked until the apples got some color, then topped with the quark cream (a German curd cheese like dairy product, but smoother) and baked again.

3:25 Actually, Marzipantorte can trace its name back to Italy, to the word marzepane and to the word torta, both tracing back to the 16th century. So you are right.

Huh. For a professional Canadian, I think you need more "eh". You already mentioned the "sorry". Rhubarb! Ah. When I was a young child, we lived with my father's parents who had a large garden, and one of the things they had was a rhubarb patch. To this day I love (almost) anything with rhubarb. Of course, the word itself is much cooler in German: say "Rhabarber" fast half a dozen times or so. Remind you of something? Well, try this: say "Barbara" fast half a dozen times. Get it?

Cant compare bakery vs butchery age - one is just meat while the other is baking. Tea started in england in 1690. So germany a few years before the british.

I've now tried to bake some cakes I know in a vegan way and the differences are neglectable at most. Sure, when using cream or milk, it's sometimes a little hard to either get the right consistency, since cow milk does cook different to e.g. oat milk. But usually there is a way to get around. Aqua Faber, thats the water you have as a leftover when buying chickpeas in a glas, is awesome if you need a way to 'stiff' things up. That's due to the proteins in said water doing what proteins do when the are cooked. Long story short, the recepies might change, but a good cake is still a good cake. No matter if you used eggs and cow milk or bananas, an excellent egg-replacement btw., and oat milk.

I googles about egg slergy and i doubt its as many people as she said 😅 in babys its between 0,5 ton2,5% but 70% of those lose the alergy before the age of 16 (exeption austrailis maybe aussies just dont consume so much egg) So here in germany most adults dont have an egg alergy and they wont be concentradet around her job so realisticly she might get 1 out of 1000 customers😅

I havdnt tried vegan cake yet i am not against it although intried vegN icecream but it was not good felt like the stuff u glue jer wallpaper on the wall with probaply couse it uses lots of sugar snd Starch to make up for the missing milk fat And coconut fat is to expensive i suppose i dont recoment it I rather have an sorbet yes still sugar but sorbet recepi e are as old as icecream and nsturally dont have animsl products they dont try to be something they arent. Actualy thats my issue with vegN slternatives u might think its healthy on first site ut offten it uses guakernl flower wich is an e number starch and the e numbers arent the best dor ur body and metsbolisim missing flsvour offten is sublime tet with more sugar and and the plants with the most protein all contain verry comon alergens It sounds so simple but it really isnt 😅

We don't really do frosting and we don't have cupcakes, just muffins. Stark naked muffins. What I really enjoy though are old fashioned Kleinkuchen (like small cakey things) with weird names like ox eye, napoleon's hat, train tracks or what was called moor's head (I don't what they are called now, but obviously different). You could also come and try Amerikaner, just to find out that they're sweet and dry 😎
