Yeah IT is old but the real reason why Canada is named like this is because in the langage of the native, Kanata was the word for village but Champlain (pretty sure you know Who he is) was thinking IT was the name of the place so he just used IT ans because at that Time, nobody liked the native, so no one learned the native language until Everyone was saying Canada to name the country (and yeah, the kanata was not a typo)

Not where I live (Ontario), For some reason the moment it starts getting cold here, everyone throws on a sweater over their t-shirt AND puts on a coat, Passed someone who seen me in a T-shirt and let me know it was "kinda" cold outside and they were wearing a coat and most likely a sweater under the coat since I kinda know them personally, I shrugged and waited for the elevator to take me down. Non Canadians will never understand the amount of joy you feel when you see a little stand in the corner of the road with a bottle of maple syrup, wooden sticks, and a big thing of snow in a wooden barrel. (For the Non Canadians, they basically freeze the maple syrup in a line and once it becomes like taffy put the stick on it and roll it, and BOOM you’ve got frozen maple syrup on a stick, best popsicle ever.

Just a fun fact: Canada actually got its name when explorer Jacques Cartier asked some First Nations peoples what this place was called, they replied kanata their world for village or settlement, but Cartier misunderstood, and assumed the country was called Canada. Go jets! ;)

Funfact: Moose aren't pluralised as Meese like Geese, because Goose comes from a latin word which gets pluralised this way. Moose only got introduced to the english vocabulary later on, as Moose were discovered in america.
