Models probably would have looked as ugly as the teaser trailer and Thieves in Time's models. And for all we know, they would have probably replaced Matt Olsen and Chris Murphy as well and hired some second-rate c lister to voice Carmelita. Also given this movie was supposed to release in 2016, they probably would have made Sly dumber to prop up Inspector Fox.

I agree, I found the Ratchet and Clank movie for me to be enjoyable to watch. Also, I'm starting to become a Sly fan since playing the first game 2 days ago on April 16th, 2024. (However I was at the time a small-to-not fan of Sly and was almost not interested). But I do remember seeing the Pitch Script "Trailer" and at the time was kinda interested about watching the release of the movie. Now after playing Sly 1 for a couple of days, now as making more interested along with wanting to play Sly 2 and 3. Sadly, can't play Thieves In Time since I don't own a Ps3.

I think Rainmaker went into the Sly Movie trailer with the same mindset as the initial Ratchet & Clank Movie trailer. Where it gave off the same pitch energy, the character designs were slightly different compared to the final product, and had a release year that wasn't met. Tho there was one scene from that initial trailer, DID actually make it into the film. However, the film would be delayed so the 2016 PS4 Re-Imagining of the OG PS2 game, would tie into the film's release. And receive the extra polish it needed, despite it's only 10-month development cycle. Well, we seen what happened. Tho the pitch/announce trailer for Ratchet led to the film actually happening. The same sadly didn't happen for Sly Cooper. Heck, Jak & Daxter was even planned after Sly was done, but because of Ratchet's box office failure, it would not move forward, at least not under Rainmaker. Either way, I do hope something Sly Cooper related is in the works at PlayStation Productions. If the series can't come back with new games, let the series find new life as a TV show! Given it's comic book & animated series setup, it's perfect!

I have a feeling that there may have been a miscommunication between who ever was in charge of Rainmaker or Sony’s marketing team and the actual production crew who made the pitch. Someone who probably didn’t know much about how animated movies are made probably thought they were much further along in the production process than they actually were and so someone on the marketing team thought it was a good idea to take this pitch, slap a release year on it and then release it online without actually knowing if the film was finished or not

11:03 Pixar has been known for this sort of thing. For so many of their films the very first trailers contain scenes or materials that are not present in the finished film. They’re quite literally teasers to not only let people know they are coming, but to give people an idea of the tone and styles of the films and in numerous cases the general personalities of the characters.

We appreciate Rainmakers efforts but it's clear that they didn't have as much people on their team that we're passionate about these projects in MY opinion.. it did felt like just some mindless slop (and the way my country treated the dub was also absolutely atrocious, actually cannot stand the Czech dub it's the definition of how not to, dub ANYTHING lmfao) Damn i wish the 2016 movie was better... Franchises like Sly and Jak too deserve SO much more for how many copies were sold and also with how good the games ARE I feel so unappreciated as a fan with how they left us on read like that :( On a positive note though, still faithful for the future! The games, community, all the Art are and will remain amazing and it's bound to be recognized again eventually!

As a fan of The Sly Cooper series, I was greatly saddened when the movie was pretty much indefinitely on hold. When I heard no news about anything happening, I got even more scared that the series was pretty much dead. Then when they had news that it was being switched to an animated series, I got hope. But, as things happened, we ended up where we are now where we don't know if there's anything actually happening with Sly Cooper or any of the other previously preempted or speculated Sony sort of mascot movies. To this day I still wonder about the Spyro the Dragon movie that allegedly had a poster. I know with that, universal should still have some rights to the series. If this is the case, they already hit it out of the park with the Mario movie. Universal should team up with Activision and either illumination or DreamWorks does an animated Spyro film. However, Sony animation could also do the same thing since they have been hitting it out of the park with some of their animated films. Also, since Spider-Man is their big Cash Cow right now, they could quite literally do something similar for some of their stronger IP. All this is making me wish that we get more Nintendo stuff and also more Sony stuff that's animated and video game related in the future. For all intensive purposes, we could see some of these things finally be made. Hopefully.

What a shame. The franchise certainly deserves more respect than that. It’s certainly personal to me since I received the first game by my mother as a small child, on Easter, and it was also the first console game I ever received. So this project would’ve definitely been a top-tier adaptation to what was practically my childhood and for others alike. Maybe one day, that may change.

If the Sly Cooper movie was real, or at least approved by Sony, than this could’ve actually kept the Sly series on life support much like how Ratchet & Clank did when their movie came out, and we could’ve gotten a tie in game that includes remade levels of the first Sly Cooper game, but on a PS4 budget. We could’ve possibly had to wait 5 or 6 years until a new Sly Cooper game just like we waited for Rift Apart for 5 or 6 years, and it could’ve been a launch title on the PS5, or a a cross play game that’s available on both the PS4 & PS5. Weather the supposed movie and/or it’s potential tie-in game gets well received or negatively hated is unclear. But if the movie pitch was turned down and became the cancelled show, than the cancelled Sly series would’ve still kept the franchise going, even if the games didn’t get a new installment by the time this show would’ve aired.

Sadly it seems like this movie/TV show was quietly cancelled because we haven’t heard anything for several years. The Ratchet and Clank movie underperforming probably didn’t help this project. Not having Kevin Miller in the film as Sly was dogshit. Why bring back Mike Olsen and Chris Murphy but not Kevin? That makes no sense. If you have one, you have to have all three. Carmelita may have had Grey DeLisle back as her voice actress.

Sony has a whole animated film production wing that made the Spider-Verse movies. They absolutely could have produced a Sly Cooper movie, but they got cold feet because the Ratchet & Clank movie was mediocre and underperformed. Kevin Munroe also directed the 2007 TMNT movie, which was very cool and stylized, his Sly Cooper movie could have been awesome. Such a shame, and such a wasted opportunity.

Rainmaker hasn't made a hit or anything big since Reboot and I guess Transformers Beast Wars due to their awful executive control in recent years so it isn't surprising how both the released Ratchet and Clank movie and the unreleased Sly Cooper movie was handled. Also I find it hard to believe the view count let alone watch time for CGE's content here is as low as it is given his sub count, it's either a KZbin problem with the video not dropping in their Subs or a user problem.

Uncharted wasn't a very good game, nor was it a good movie either.... I don't see that bringing back Sly Cooper at all. :/

@@vincentnugent9888 if uncharted failed (which it didn't theres a reason why most of them have the greatest hits tag) we would have stopped at 2, maybe 3 but no we got 5 nathan titles, a spinoff and a movie

@@furryman0213 I didn't say the franchise was a failure. Obviously it has fans, but it doesn't mean everybody will think it's the best thing ever. I have the collection and I think I turned it on for a few moments.. it's okay in my eyes. I'd much rather play Tomb Raider if I was gonna play something like that. I also watched the movie and I thought it was terrible, too. Definitely would not ever watch again.
