Canadians: Are we tired of our politics yet?

I'm in the States, in Idaho. It's a shame to see the ideology that has crept into Canada. Hopefully more people will begin to wake up and stop being ashamed to stand up for their beliefs. It's great to see you taking a stand for common sense!

I’m confident that the vast majority of Canadians (and non Canadians who follow what’s happening in Canada) have been sick of our governance in general, but JT and his party are a prime example of how flawed it is. Let’s talk about media! We’re not that different from the US and the fact that people can look around at their country, the division, devisiveness and the cost of living and be okay with that, blows my mind! The only way this makes sense to me is that certain people are benefiting enough off of the current system to warrant what’s happening. Or their media coverage is SO biased, they have never even had their ideas challenged. Also, it’s likely that to stay in their community and not get exiled, they have to accept so many lies, so they stay the course. We are getting to where we need to be, though. Canadians KNOW how gaslighted we’ve been by MSM and the US / rest of the world is now clueing in too. People can say what they want about Trump as a person and his personal characteristics. But the biggest gift he brought to attention on the world stage is how corrupt Government and Media (especially social media)was and still is. The results in the last election show that people have had enough of being lied to and manipulated by so many large corrupt systems that we once blindly used to put our trust and faith in. The upshot here: nobody believes any institution blindly anymore (you could even argue this is down to the level of the personal relationship now) and everyone has to learn how to be trustworthy going forward! There is no more hiding personally, corporately and hopefully, institutionally anymore. It’s people like you, Mark, that have opened so many peoples eyes to what they felt to be true. 🙏

I feel like when the US had boring politics, Canada had boring politics. Now it is kind of following the opposite. The US kind of gotten wild and divided and we had also. We need to get rid of this voting system so we aren't just voting Red vs. Blue. It is crazy that we vote in ridings to give a seat for who we want as PM. As an example, if I want a local "blue" to win because it is a good natured, kind person, I have to vote "red" which is against my values to make sure blue doesn't win nationally (just an example, it doesn't represent my future vote). It puts us in a place of abandoning a good local representative and our values to stop who we don't want to get in at a national level. We can't even vote then for who we want even if we wanted to. For example if I wanted NDP or Green...they basically have no chance as it stands, as everyone turns their votes to prevent either the red or blue from winning because every vote counts...for stopping one side. That's the game. Vote against who you don't want. We claim to be a democratic nation, but without a true say in how we want to be governed, this feels far from the truth. I think in this case right now it makes no difference which face represents us, it is about who has the seats under them that decides what passes to even get on a PM's desk to sign. Most European countries have it right with proportional systems that better reflect voters' true preferences, allowing smaller parties to have a voice and reducing the need for strategic voting. I identify more left by nature. Does it mean I support JT? No. I support the party but not the leader. Now we have this huge divide of if you are left you're a snowflake, whiner, "libtard" (ugh), and every other name called towards that side. So people think left as if we are in this same mindset and decision making as JT and his cabinet. We seem to judge a person on which side they stand with and not the person for who they are. I hate saying it, but the Conservatives (not all, I see it a lot on social media and my friends/family) seem to be more vocal and show more disdain towards people left leaning. Not that it doesn't happen the opposite way but it seems to be a little less aggressive. This is when we should be working during challenging times like these, rather than attacking each other. I feel like we are stuck this time around with the choices we have and who will lead. Sorry for the little rant but, yes, I am very tired of what is going on.
