Glad you were able to get the grips on despite the trouble they gave you. Also glad you didn't have to remove that extender as I couldn't use it before you added that. Not sure if I ever will drive it again but nice to know I still can if need be. Ha ha - don't want you selling the snowblower as we are sure to have more snowy days - just hopefully not for awhile.

Hey there Mike nice job putting the heated grips on although one didn't go on quite the way you wanted it. It still looks good and I'm sure they will be handy for the cold days. You have a good selection to choose from of adhesives but it seems like no matter which one you chose it was only going to give you one try to get it right. Your hands will like heat when your out there in the winter. I used to regrip my golf clubs every year. I would use 2 sided tape and lighter fluid. I put the 2 sided tape down lengthwise on the shaft the length of the grip and then put lighter fluid on the surface of the tape. It turns the glue to a slime like surface and slide the grip on. They slide right on and when the lighter fluid dissipated and the glue dried, they were not coming off. 👍🇺🇸🎥Roger
@GrampiesWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
How's she goin'? I was thinking of 2 sided tape like you used on the golf clubs. But the fit of the new grips was so tight I didn't think I could get the grips even started on the bar. The spray paint did lube the bar up a bit but as you saw, I still managed to get one grip hung up half way on!! LOL It's all good now though except for the wire, but as it turns out that's a not a big issue either. There was lots of wire lead so it's no problem. Thanks for the visit to the shop and take care!!!

How's she goin'? Thanks Dave!!! The spray paint worked pretty good. It did provide some lubricant to help them slide on even tough I did have to use the hammer. I'd have never thought of using clear laquer as glue but it adhered those grips on there like snot to a blanket (or shit to a blanket, whichever you prefer. Either one an indelible melding with the blanket hehehe). Is it possible to cut the rubber a bit and pull the wire down to 4 o'clock? Sometimes the wires can be long enough to make an adjustment. Like you say, some days you're the hammer, other days the nail. A good fix for cold handlebars nonetheless. I wouldn't sweat the clock position of the wire too much so long as the heated grips work. Like any little mistake, it is usually only noticed by ourselves and most people would never notice it unless of course you tell them. SO DON'T TELL ANYONE that the clock position of handle warmer wire is off a bit. They'll never know.
@GrampiesWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
How's she goin'? The position of the wire doesn't seem to be a problem. It's not in the way of anything and I think I'll point it out to people and tell them this is the new way to do it and they'll all go back to their shops and reposition their grips!!! LOL That paint worked pretty good. It did lubricate the bars somewhat, but I still managed to get the grip to fetch up half way on. I didn't want to use the hammer but I couldn't think of anything else. And I don't want to spoil the next part of this series, but my hands haven't been cold for over a week now!! Hello there Allen!! This is a nice kit expect I have 2 concerns about it. The first one is what you saw here, they are hard to install. I think the 'clamp on' or 'screw on' grips would be better.
