WHEN Lorenz Dries noticed a pain in his jaw while running, little did he realise that this would lead to cancer treatment and ultimately his jaw having to be amputated. After being diagnosed with a maligned tumour in the jaw, Lorenz underwent radiotherapy but ultimately doctors told him they had to remove part of his jaw, including all bottom teeth, in order to effectively amputate. He was unable to eat anything solid and in and out of hospital for two years. To date he has had over 30 surgeries. But rather than let his treatment and altered appearance get him down, Lorenz decided to turn his experiences into a positive. Lorenz started a KZbin channel that followed him on his overseas travels as well as his incredible fitness journey - doctors were amazed that Lorenz would even work out while in recovery. He has since become a motivational speaker both on his own platform and now visiting schools and hospitals too. Now 32-years-old he has been dating his girlfriend for a year and the couple recently moved in together in Barcelona.

I'm so grateful to Truly for you guys spending the time on me to share my story with the world. Not in a million years would I have dared hope that my cancer would bring me to this point. A channel of this magnitude filming my story and sharing it with their subscribers is literally the "big break" I've been waiting and working for these past 3 years of me putting myself out there on KZbin. Not always, infact a lot of them dont push themselves. Sadly a lot of people like this either isolate themselves completely or commit suicide. The only reason you believe that they "always" push themselves is because the ones that do, they end up in videos like this. You can also see videos of very sad cases.

I went through my life being the only deaf people in entire school, college , university and my teaching career. Discrimination was sadly well and truly "alive and kicking ". People became jealous and hated the fact someone with less hearing could achieve just as much as them , or even more. But I learnt to ignore it all, to a point where it didnt effect me. It's their problem , not mine. What they dont realise , is I saw my deafness as a gift..... ....a gift that I can switch off so much easier and keep focused. Sometimes being victimised makes us stronger and more determined. Like he said, we can use it to our advantage . 💚💚💚💚💚💚

Thank you, so much! I don't have cancer. I had spine surgery, Feb 27, 2020. The nerves were punched off for so long, that I had to learn to walk again. My legs and right hand atrophied. Wow super positive guy who has beaten cancer which is once of the hugest accomplishments in in itself. For everyone who has gotten through radiation, chemo, the medications and still can get up everyday and live life to the fullest...I take my hats off to you. And he is still a good looking guy.
