That Mercury and Venus interpretations on relationships is so spot on. I realize many of the times Ive communicated about things bothering me within relationships, there has been some kind of hidden motive, and its clear to me looking back I was never direct with people because I wanted to hide that from them (or really just myself, its all a mirror). Venus one too, she's my AK and I honestly have felt the best validation when Im praised for my uniqueness and eccentricity, simply for what I am (Venus in Aqua) but when ppl conpliment my creative works or for what I do, I never get that same degree of satisfaction in terms of validation. These ascendant videos are so good Dustin, such in depth interpretations on what I believe is one of the most important things in astrology

Venus in the rising sign isnt a bad thing, brings beauty and fortune for a woman - just gotta watch for Venus-Cancer selfish indulgence tendencies and emotional codependence, which can get stuck deep in one's identity bc it is in the rising sign... Emotional co-regulation is okay, but it is easy to identify with being pampered and babied by lovers to each other's detriment. Venus is thirsted not starved in a water sign; so you likely still get what Venus needs but you always want a little more, so practicing contenment is the main key remedy, while still accepting your emotional needs and esp communicating them fairly with lovers. Imo Venus thirsty like this is a mental-samskara that meditative lifestyle and conscientiousness can curtail, after which, you are left with the lucky beauty of Venus in the 1st house :)

I'm venus atmakaraka and cancer rising, and it's so interesting, i have never associated any negative experiences with venusian things. Although growing up I did experience a lot of turmoil in family life (that's an understatement), and the first 20 years of my life i was at home, it WAS the mahadasha of venus XD Still, i love venus

Wonderful to hear these things :) I think as I mentioned, having an inauspicious planet as the atmakaraka may not be such a bad thing. i think the nature of the atmakaraka cannot really hate itself per se; so I have found great bliss with my own Venus atmakaraka in a Leo Rising chart (which means its inauspicious as 3rd/10th lord), which is even debilitated in Virgo. Something about the AK, I think, is so intrinsic to one's nature that it is hard to hate it. Hard to say, Venus is loving; maybe anbother AK might be different, I know alot of people with Saturn AK who have a hard go of life early on. Plus my Venus has lots of support, so there is always context to read into. I am so so happy you're feeling the bliss of Venus, Ylva :)

My favorite reference is Vic Dicara's class "Vedic epistemology 101." He describes all things needed in the Veda, you can find it on his website. A great classic Jyotish text is called "Light on Life," by Robert E Svoboda and Hart de Fouw. The heart of the Vedic philosophy has many routes. My greatest recommendation if you want to start tapping into it, is the great book called "Autpbiography of a Yogi," by Paramahansa Yogananada. That has the heart of Vedic philosophy nestled inside of it, plus more. Not only is it a wonderfully engaging book (my favorite of all time), but it has the knowledge. I hope this was helpful. What about the modern planets? Do they hold any significance? Does Pluto rule the 5th house or Mars? I feel they are missed out.

Modern Outer planets were not used in ancient Jyotish for a reason, in my understanding they do not make up the primary energy of the chakras like the ancient 7 grahas do. The placement of the modern planets in the signs, and how their dispositors / house lords are doing, to me show how those keys to higher chakras (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto etc whatever else) are going to express themselves; but the essential energy field is crated by the 7 grahas.
