Pause at the top fella, that’s where most tension is (;
@Elguapo932 жыл бұрын
It really doesn’t. I don’t understand why people do this.. you’re literally having a break during your set. You could sit there all day like that.. there’s no tension on anything.
@jfandjanicegrenier34022 жыл бұрын
@@Elguapo93 you are killing the momentum with relaxiing at the bottom plus when you pause you still got to remain tight (flexed). Like pausing in powerlifting on the benchpress, much harder than a touch and go lift.. by the sound of your statement, you are basically telling us that you could take 350 to 400 lbs, go down with it and pause 10 plus seconds and no problem you'll lift it no struggles cause you consider it a break. I've got to see that. make à video, post it then if you do it easily you will have a point made but, I doubt this very much!
@Elguapo932 жыл бұрын
@@jfandjanicegrenier3402 tf are you talking about? “400lbs take a video and post it” I didn’t say that you absolute moron. The person in the video sure as hell ain’t squatting 400lbs so don’t know why you’re dribbling all that garbage.. there is no tension on your quads, your glutes or anything. It is a break. I am not asking you anything. The tension is on the come up. No point going down and staying there and looking around the room like a clown. Get in, squat your set and move tf on. I go to the gym and have tried this and you could sit there and have a conversation with someone.. you don’t remain tight at the bottom of your squat like this.. if his ass was parallel with his knees then yes, there would be tension.. like I said, I’m not asking you anything. This is stupid, and you don’t see people do it away from the internet.

Keep listening to your doctor. Your knees will be shot in no time flat, your medical bills will go through the roof and, your doctor will be able to get that summer home in Maui. Also, you should not be resting in the squatted position. That further escalates wear and tare on your knees.

@@jr-pn1dt i'm interested; i pause sometimes when benching because it _just feels good,_ but what's the science behind the benefits?
@finallychangedthis2 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceMissile From a strength building perspective, pause reps help to reinforce control of the weight and technique. It helps strengthen the part of the rep that the pause is executed. From a muscle growth perspective, it increases the time under tension in a stretched position, so theoretically pause reps are good tools for hypertrophy as well Plus in powerlifting competitions it is a rule to pause the weight

I used to always do this before squats as a warm up. Every now and then gym staff would look over and think i bombed a lift, then id stand up. 225 for 2 reps, 20 seconds at the bottom with a tight core. Idk if it actually helped, or if it was safe, but it felt like it did.
