Candling Chicken Eggs Day 12 From Our Incubator
Today made 12 full days of Incubation time for our Chicken Eggs.
Let's get into it and find out what we can see and what we can't.
I'll show you how to know for sure if an egg is fertile or not.
I'll be using the MagicFly Egg Candler to candle the eggs from the
OppsDecor 56 Egg Incubator.

I am also using this incubator- it is currently day 12 for me! I think it works pretty well aside from the fact that the humidity is a little hard to control. How are you finding it?

In the winter the humidity is always harder to control. The one thing that we found was that in a lot of cases it's due to where the water ends up at. Center channel or outside channel. You need more area to keep it normalized. The outside channel should be the first one filled up, then when you take it into lockdown the inside channel should be filled up. That little bottle with the long filler neck has to be angled just right to get the outside channel filled. Other than that, we've had near to no reason to gripe about the machine. We have two of them and run both when we set eggs.

@@HomesteadingBartramStyle ahh. I started off with 4 silkie eggs and I think I may be down to only 1- I had to Chuck 2 out a few days ago because they had blood rings, and now one seems to be a lot stiller and the veins are fading. What hatching rates have you gotten with this incubator?

@@faitharcher795 Hatching rates have been fine for me. In the beginning they weren't so hot, but it was due to lack of knowledge on my part. Once I quit destroying the egg's chances of hatching the rates went up. Don't wash unless you must and use clorox wipes if you do just before putting into incubator. Keep temp set as close to 99.5 deg F as possible. These incubators are very capable of keeping temp. The hardest part is humidity and really it's a pain in lockdown. Red Ring of Death is caused by many problems internally to egg. As a chick matures inside you'll see less veining also, more dark all together. Most problems with hatching if the incubator keeps temp is with other factors. Stay the course ! Wishing you well in getting babies!
