Bloody hell I remember this from years ago. Specifically when it was called “pocket world”. I still have an old plastic ball and one of the stickers on my 3ds is from it. I also remember one time that Proffessor Yew answered a viewer’s question on how to beat “ash” in heart gold. He mentioned how his name was actually “red” and that you needed to bring a ground type mon with you for Pikachu. I used it to help beat Red for the first time. God those magazines were great.

I loved this magazine as kid, I remember being super pissed when they changed to Pocket World and tried to play it off as good by having a whole section about evolution and were like "We're evolving" but it just failed and that's when I stopped buying it. I did get a question I sent in to them published though so that was good.

Wow! This is a blast from the past! I collected every issue of that magazine from around issue 38 until the last issue of Pocket World. I have literally hundreds of them in my wardrobe at home! Even got my art featured in one of the issues! I remember making my own Pokémon World inspired magazine issues in Microsoft Word on my computer in the run up to Black and White, compiling my own little Pokédex of all the leaked Pokémon, printing it out and handing copies to my friends at school. I lived for the free gifts and there's still a section of my room back at home covered mainly in stickers that came with the magazine. Pokémon/Pocket World played a MASSIVE part in my childhood. Honestly didn't expect anybody to remember it!

Probably getting buried, but I must pay my dies to Pokémon World magazine. As a young child, until about the age of 5 or 6, I was admitted to hospital almost every month due to severe asthma (God bless the NHS) that I still haven't grown out of. During these, often week-long, stays, my mum would buy me Pokémon World magazine to keep me entertained (was and still am a nerdy kid, one of my interests was Pokémon as I liked the Diamond and Pearl animé). One of the only things I remember about the magazine was the Create a Pokémon part, which I would always fill in despite having no way to send it in. This video sparked my memory and I started watching to see if it was that magazine, and sure enough, the very same. Thank you for sparking these memories, Evie/Lucy, and thank you to Pokémon World for brightening dark times. First exposure to Pokémon beyond the animé, and I started playing with XY.

As an American, I didn't read this. But us in the states had something similar: Beckett Pokémon Unofficial Collector. The thing I remember most from that magazine was a section where they explained the real world inspirations for different Pokémon. It's also where I first learned about the Lucky Egg item, and how to "easily" obtain one in the Sinnoh games (easily in quotation marks because it still took a lot of work, but the method they outlined did help cut down some of the bullshit). Fun fact: they were the first magazine outside of Japan to break the news about Pokémon Platinum in their December 2007 issue.

This was a MINT magazine! Taught me so much about different facets of the franchise which didn't participate in like the card game. I really loved when it taught how you how to make stuff like milkshakes and smoothies based on different pokemon or how to make a paras out of sweet potatoes. I remember this magazine! They were sold in the Republic of Ireland too! I still have a number of issues here in my bedroom on a shelf! It's hard to believe it's been so long, I still have vivid memories of reading this magazine - it was so charming! I mainly read it around the Explorers of Sky + HG/SS era, continuing until around when Black & White 2 came out (back when leaks were making it seem like Unova was entering some kind of ice age lol). It's nice to see Joe has had this influence for so long. I loved those pokemon magazines as a kid it was my only way into the wider world of pokemon too. We didn't have internet to around the announcement of pokemon emerald that I googled to find out more and Serebii had all the real ways to ev train and get the best pokemon. I don't have any of the magazines in any good condition anymore. A very vague memory but no one makes magazines like they did in the 90s.

I remember this magazine, it was only available at an indigo outlet at my local airport. I was a fan of the franchise but was never allowed to own a console through my school years, so I bought the magazines just to get a look into how the games functioned. I always remembered how unique the writing staff were with their quirky dialogue and I still have a deflated pocket world mini beachball stashed away somewhere. Now that I’m past the age of getting a part time job and buying a switch of my own, I’m saddened to hear they discontinued their work. I guess the competition with digital guides wasn’t sustainable after all.

I remember looking it up a few years ago and found a forums thread where everyone complained about the mistakes. While the magazine was fun, it did often make really weird mistakes - missing sprites and stuff. This forum thread was multiple pages long, and out of nowhere a guy came along saying he made the entire magazine, on his own, and it was quite stressful and so some mistakes would slip through. I always felt really and for him after that.

I loved this video! I squealed as soon as I saw it pop up in my feed because it was such a throwback! I used to ask my parents to buy me latest issue whenever it reached our local bookstore. I didn't have many friends and didn't know how to use the internet at that time either so the magazine was really useful to me too! I found out about sites like Serebii from them.
