This haunted me so much the first time I saw it. Also, fun fact: Virginia Madsen, the actor playing Helen, was actually being hypnotized during several scenes (when she's told about candyman, when he appears to her, etc.) The director hated the idea of someone screaming, so he thought it should have an otherworldly sense.

The lady who played Hellen would actually be hypnotized anytime she did a scene with Candyman, that’s why she always looks so glazed over when he’s talking to her !! That always fascinated me hearing, besides this is the only scary movie that truly scared the crap out of me, after that bathroom scene with the little boy… that was it for me at like 6 years old I went a good year where I wouldn’t go into a bathroom or in front or a mirror without my parents 🤦🏻♂️

The moment I saw this video in my notifications, I clicked it. Great to see your reactions again. And Tony Todd is one of the best actors with the most deep and epic voice. And so, here's a fun fact. The men you see for the first time walking into Cabrini-Green weren't actors, but actual gang members paid so they wouldn't cause trouble when filming on the real Cabrini-Green filming site. At one point, someone shot one of their filming vehicles, and luckily no one was hurt.

6:32 the story of Ruthie jean is a true story except her real name was Ruthie mae Mccoy and this movie took place in the area Cabrini green where she was murdered. In the movie she was hooked but she was actually shot. People really did come through a wall opening hidden behind her mirror. No one believed her when she called 911 and like in the movie she had to tell the cops the elevator was working because if it wasn't, they wouldn't come up because they didn't feel like climbing the stairs. 😯 most of what you see was real except Candyman.

Saw this film 10 years after it's release on Cinemax with my sister, and it scared the hell out of me! They even released a reboot/Sequel starring Yaya Abdul Matteen II. The new Candyman movie got positive reviews, but KZbinrs whom reviewed the film said it's like a gut punch as it involves police brutality and systematic racism, including the death of George Floyd in 2020.
@SomethingCinema3 жыл бұрын
We will definitely watch both but Candyman is such a good movie
@83shadow33 жыл бұрын
Heres the thing about movie reviewers you really can't trust anything. They say because here's how it works if they give movies bad reviews. The movie studios that own those movies wont give them Early Access or even. Interviews or anything regarding any future movies with that Studio. So they tend to cater to those movies by only saying positive things. About the movies because they make a living by getting all these exclusive interviews and early access to movies. So if they say something like the movie punches you in the face. By constantly bringing up systemic racism and police brutality. Constantly and openly throughout the entire movie ones that made the movie will not give them any access to any future movies. So that makes it harder for them because covering movies are their job. So that means that they basically lost work by being honest about the movie. Whare as KZbinrs on the other hand can openly and freely tell their take on the movie. Because they aren't getting paid by people to review movies all the time. So they don't make a living by getting exclusive interviews an early access to movies. So they can be brutally honest about a movie and they don't have to worry about losing their job. Thats why I prefer KZbinrs for reviews for movies. Because they can be brutally honest whare as a actual movie critic or reviewer. If they say something like for example the movie gut punchers you and openly. Just talks about systemic racism and police brutality then that movie critic or reviewer. May be out of a job the next morning because they told their true and and honest it take on a movie. So they openly lie about the movie or they just don't talk about any negative part of the movie. So either way it's not a honest movie review but they do it to keep their job. But KZbinrs that talk about movies they can be openly honest all the way. Because it does not affect her job all they get is a dislike and some negative comments if people don't agree. One KZbinr made this point perfectly clear. Because he was doing movie reviews and he would get exclusive interview an early Access to things. One time he said some negative things about one movie then that. Movie studio completely cut him off no further contact was ever made with him. They basically said without saying anything you said negative things about are movie. So no more exclusive or Early Access for you. Because you said negative things about my movie. But since he's a KZbinr it does not affect his bottom line because they don't pay him. To do movie reviews he does it for KZbin for fun and entertainment and whatever. So he went fine you're done with me I'm done with you. Then he just moved on with his life but actual. Movie critics and reviewers can't do that they do that they are out of a job. So that's the difference between actual movie critics and reviewers. Then people that review movies on KZbin. Actual movie critics and viewers have to worry about losing their jobs. KZbinrs that review movies don't have to worry about that. Because at most they get dislikes and negative comments.
@SomethingCinema3 жыл бұрын
Yeah... we just always try to say watch the full movie for yourself and make your own judgment
@83shadow33 жыл бұрын
Thats the best way to go but I figured point out the difference between. KZbinrs that talk about movies and actual movie critics. Because people are confused by the results because you have actual movie critics. Only saying all good things about some movies and nothing negative. Then KZbinrs that talk about movies they have a whole different story. Because they talk about the good and the bad of the movie. So that would mean that out of both of them KZbinrs are being honest. And depending on which one you watch some are neutral. They just break it down simply here is the good things of the movie. Here are the bad things of the movie only using facts. They never say not to watch it or not they leave it up to you just give you the facts of the movie.

“Is that your foreplay?” Right? White people get off on the weirdest things 😂 The Ruthie Jean story is based on a real Cabrini Green murder. Ruthie May McCoy, killed by an intruder that came through the bathroom mirror The razor blade candy is in reference to the urban legend of tampered halloween candy. Poison, nails, pieces of glass. Surprisingly it seems razor blades have only been claimed to be in candy apples in real life, not chocolate or wrapped candy like this and other things have shown. So he’s called Candyman because of the honey he got slathered in Sweets to the sweet is a Shakespeare line, Hamlet “Pick up some work” Some work is a weird nickname for Stacy He was denied the woman he loved and their child she carried. So a child had to be part of the new story They give Candyman a real name in the sequels. Daniel Robitaille (pronounced tie. I thought it was tail till I heard it). You only need to watch the newest one Jordan Peele produced the new one. Nia DaCosta directed
