I really like the Canik TP9 SFx, one of the best values in striker-fired pistols. CAnik recently released the METE SFx. I explore the differences in this tabletop first look. Range review in the works.
For the KZbin manual reviewers:
1) This video complies with all KZbin guidelines and standards;
2) All firearm handling is done by a trained professional in a controlled, safe environment and all shooting is done on a dedicated, safe shooting range;
3) The link below is to my personal website and I do not sell, or offer for sale, firearms or ammunition;
4) This video is intended to entertain and inform. It is not intended to sell, or offer for sale, any firearms, ammunition, or accessory;
5) The firearm(s) shown in this video are completely stock and are not "previously modified" firearms.

You're tripping🤯 night and day difference coming from guy that owned both. You can hardly see the difference in the supposedly new improve beaver tail let along feel the difference. True difference is optic options, co-witnees and ambi slide release for left handed shooter. Im right handed and preferred the shorter (better looking) slide release. Also, Warren tactical sight less squares and top serration is more practical (makes gun looks better) imo. As for mag well unless you using it for competition. I always felt it makes guns look bulky and fugly. I rather get the 2 20rds mags instead. Subtle and preference differences at best not night and day🤦‍♂️

Thanks for the review. I just recently learned about Canik as a whole and the Mete from classic firearms. Joined the r/Canik subreddit and saw a bunch of people buying the TP9 so wanted to know the differences. Sounds like the Mete is the latest iteration. Think I might need to get me an SFT 🤔 Side note, looking thru the comments it looks like you take the time to respond to all comments (even unnecessarily rude dumbasses - and you deal with them gracefully which is a biiiiiig show of your character). Good comparison. I bought the Mete but returned it for an SFX. I wanted a home defense/competition gun and the fiber optic front sight and larger mag release were the important differences for me. @@RidersRange I'd get the METE in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the micro plates. I don't plan to use it for home defense or combat so having back up sights to co witness is irrelevant and frankly distracting on a bullseye gun. Also the chances of a full size red failing is very unlikely anyways. I just want a customizable bullseye pistol for plinking at the range and possibly competition if I get into that. The METE seems better in several ways but really deviated from what made the SFX so amazing. That's supremely frustrating, especially since they already had the combat role filled and the vast majority of ppl won't buy a pistol this long for combat. Even military and police are moving towards compact slide lengths for combat so idk who they had in mind when making this more combat oriented.

The only reason I can think of for Canik going to the micro footprint, rather than the more typical RMR footprint is to keep the optic mount the width of the slide. But I agree, for that size and class of gun, the smaller optic doesn't make much sense.

After looking at a PDP and a PPQ, I got the PPQ. Also looked at a TP9SFX, which I definitely liked, I just got the walther at a very good price so went with that one. I felt like the PDP didn’t feel as high of quality or as good of grip as the PPQ. The walther trigger is definitely best, although the P10 has a very clean break like the walther, just heavier. The Canik trigger is also good, the walther is just the best in the market. The canik isn’t behind by far, it’s the same if not better than the HK VP9

Yes all these guns are wonderful. And I will also say that you’re picking tuna with very light triggers. If it’s your first gun, I’d go with something else, because I’ve even had an ND down range with the PDP. I jumped the reset. But if it’s your first handgun, then go for it, you couldn’t start off with a better gun. But if I were you, i would go with the compact size in each gun, the 4 inch barrel. I’m a utility guy myself, I want guns I can use as a duty gun, as well as conceal carry. I love love love the PDP, unless the CZ comes with an optic cut, I’d pick the PDP. Otherwise I’d go with CZ. It’s in between the others in affordability, and you can use most glock 19 holsters with it. All around good gun, and not talked about enough.

As for first gun I would go with CZ P10 C unless you want full size then go with F. Trigger on CZ is just right. The other 2 trigger is much lighter. Therefore, CZ best for first gun and self/home defense imo.

Where do i find a holster for the mete. No optics or olight.
@RidersRange

The METE, like most Canik pistols, comes with a holster. If you want something different, any company that makes holsters for Canik TP9 series will work. I have found that Muddy River Tactical holsters have fantastic service and delivery times. Several times I have ordered on their website and had my holster within a week. I don't make anything from Muddy River, but I am a repeat customer.

The holster that comes with the gun isn't the greatest, but at least it comes with one. Holster makers don't usually invest in what it takes to make a holster until the gun gets popular.

That’s where the plates come into effect, which isn’t always good, the best mounting option are slides that are cut for a “specific” optic.

@@ronniebowers1241 I've bought many, many guns through Gunbroker - some new, some pre-owned. Each listed firearm has pictures and must clearly state if it is new, new old stock, or used. GB is simply a broker and brings customers together with sellers. All transactions still must take place through licensed dealers. But be aware of the status of a seller. Personally, I won't buy from a private party over GB (my FFL doesn't generally accept transfers from non-FFLs). I only purchase through licensed dealers, and I won't buy from anyone who doesn't take credit cards, but again, that's just my personal preference.

@@RidersRange i am going to look at optic milling as an option. I like the lower with the safety change, and the rounding of the beaver tail, but I want the 507c Vulcan acss optic. This my first hand gun I am buying for training and home defense but I do not intend to carry yet. My training is all you tube warrior and not hands on practicality, which means that carrying in public and dropping rounds in anyone's defense, could lead to more death. I do intend to carry at time but at that time, I will reevaluate my carry options. I would prefer a different slide compatibility so I could keep my lower and still have my full optic, as well as practice with irons and optic. Thank you so much for responding. I will subscribe even if I never watch another video, though that will probly not be the case. God bless you and yours.

J, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not fluent in Turkish, but I did research the correct pronunciation. However, even Adam Ruonala, the Canik National Marketing Director, pronounces it the "American" way - Canik - not the true Turkish way. And I believe I mentioned in one of my earlier Canik videos that if you walked into most gun stores and asked for it by the Turkish pronunciation, most sales folks wouldn't have a clue what you meant. So, as with many "Americanized" words of foreign origin, Canik has strayed from its roots.
