In this interview we have on Declan Burger from Sativius on to discuss compounding of medicines in South Africa.
We discuss the differences between compounded medicine compared to registered medicine. We highlight Section 22C 1 b licence holders under SAHPRA compared with Section 22C 1 a , where this is regulated by the DG of the Department of Health.
We highlight how compounding medicine allows for precision/personalized medicine and has massive potential to improve patient access. A core theme of this discussion is enabling access to medicine in South Africa and Africa in general. We also discuss good pharmacy practices (GPP).
