Good morning, Interesting we are very far point of view, but I took pictures of all same things you have shown here, and Sara brought me on the 70 too I discovered sunreef, last year in the first days of freedom in France from lockdown in May/June, because the 80Power was anchored in Antibes, probably I’m the first one have done it. It’s different market, but I suggest also on the other corner the outremer catamaran in particular 5X The second day was focus on Nautor Swan, I love them, however the work on the style of the interior is interesting, and outside they brought many features from the flagship Solleone, the 98 it’s something to enjoy. Last but not least, as I was in the shipyard to review the new sport 50MT, K2, the new 100GTO from Columbus/Palumbo group. I’ll be back tomorrow for the evening part, I also suggest if time allows to go to Monaco for the Monaco Classic Week P.s.: the sunreef 70 has the terrace with the best view of the bay…

I went to Cannes 3 years ago at the start of spring. Its a great time to go if you're lucky with the weather. We hired a Vespa and rode all around the Cap d'Antibes. Good times!

I would swear the first time I looked at Sunreef it was like 2006, fall/winter. I remember they had a design for a huge powered sailcat, like a 160 or something enormous like that. It stuck with me. I wonder if that was when they were building in aluminum?

The reason sailing catamarans usually have trampoline nets in the front is to save weight, and to let water through in high seas. You don't have the weight of a lot of heavy deck materials, but you still have a surface you can walk on or sit on -- you can use the space but it weighs virtually nothing. Helps sailing performance a lot. And when waves come up over the bow, the water drains through the nets quickly and out again instead of filling up the space. They have other ways to drain the bow too, including its forward-slanted shape, but the nets help.

The trampolines are to help prevent the slap as air gets caught underneath as you go over waves on sailing cats. But at least a few sailing cats are being made with a solid foredeck with no apparent issues. Watched a video recently and the cat with solud foredeck seemed to function well without them. Slap puts a lot of stress and caused cracks in early sailing cats. But the cats are made much better now and have higher center decks.

Hi David...I do love your channel, I like the way you take me to places I only dream of...Although I worked in F1 and have been to Monaco many times and actually made it on to a Large Yacht for a drink or 2!! Are you aware of the "Lagoon" situation... Basically they are falling apart... Any Opinions??? :-)))) Maybe a future video on the things to be aware of "If it looks too good, then be careful"

It's not much of a thing at any size for a few reasons... 1) It's a huge headache and legal liability in the vast majority of the world. You are more likely to get your boat seized at port and spend time in prison than you are to defend yourself on the high seas. 2) It's not really needed in the vast majority of the places people would want to travel with a yacht. 3) In places where security is an issue, it's easier to hire temporary private security with their own guns, travel that passage with other boats, or make that passage when a military ship is passing through (which is often in those areas).
