My wife and I are both farm raised, live in the city for now and just recently got back into canning, thank you for sharing this valuable information and skill. When I was a kid my parents had a room in our basement we all referred to as the "Fruit Room" as that is where they kept all of the fruit and what not they canned. I can still picture all the rows of Peaches, Pears, Plums, Cherries and Apple Butter. Two chest freezers full of meat and garden vegetables and usually two 100 pound bags of potatoes in a cool place, with seven in the family you learn to save where you can and eat what's set in front of you. Love watching your channel.

That’s how I sort thru my beans, only on a cookie sheet. Put on music or videos and pick thru. I actually do the entire bag, and repackage in quart bags. Then, when I’m ready to do beans, I know that part has been done. Whatever works right!! Love your video and presentation. Thank you!

Good presentation! I also keep a couple of jars of dried beans already measured with beans, salt and spices (except water) handy in order to fill up the canner if I don't have a full canner! If you like hummus, try the garbanzo beans with a couple hunks of red bell pepper and a clove or two of garlic! When ready to use add the jar to a food processor with about a tbs of olive oil and you have instant hummus!

If I managed to get over that fear.. I can tackle pressure canning too! Thanks for your step by step directions.

I have never pressure canned dry beans until watching your videos. I have to tell you, thanks to you, we are enjoying black eyed peas for the first time in our long, long lives! I added 1/2 teaspoon salt and a little dab (on the end of a dinner knife, maybe 1/2 teaspoon at the most) of BTB pork bullion to each pint jar. Comfort food, just heat and eat. So wonderful and tasty! For our first taste I sauteed some onions a little bit and just dumped the jar of beans into the pan. No meat, just fine as-is. Thank you for sharing your best!

This is how I can my beans, although I've never added cumin or garlic. It sounds delicious, though, so I'll give it a try when I can black beans next week. Nice video, Lori! ❤️

When I empty a jar I wash it and the ring, then put the ring back on it to protect the edges. Also, all those rings laying around can get overwhelming. I like the black beans with Jamaican Jerk seasoning. I buy them in bulk and put them in a food safe bucket, throw in an oxygen absorber and put an air tight lid on it. When I run low on the canned ones I crack that bucket open can some more and reseal the bucket.

Thank you, Ms. Lori! You remind me so much of my sweet Grandmothers. One of them was from Arkansas! You’re helping me feel connected to them - a lot of what you’re doing is like the canning I saw in their homes when I was a little girl. Hope y’all are doing alright. Take care!

Those turned out so pretty !! Miss Lori , my mama taught me a little trick several years ago , to take the seal out of my pressure cooker and stretch them a little bit with your hands . Just making sure the seal is still good and it helps it from spewing . I'm glad you shared this with us . I've never canned beans before . I'm gonna try this !! God bless y'all and take care !! ❤❤

Hi, love this video! I've canned green beans, tomatoes and such for many years but never tried beans or sauerkraut which are now on my canning list. Also, just started watching your videos on canning and wondered if you had one for canning pumpkin butter. My daughter was gifted a jar that was made commercially in a glass jar and it was delicious. If you grow pumpkins there's always a lot. Never canned pumpkin for pies or baked goods either. Would you consider a video on this? I know they won't be coming in till the end of the season. I'm watching you canned chicken video next. Thanks for all the good information and keep the videos on canning coming.

Ms Lori, thank you so much for the great tutorial. I've got my second batch of beans in my pressure canner right now! I'm just thrilled. Your video inspired me, and gave me the confidence I needed to tackle my first time using a pressure canner. Thank you so much. Philippians 4:13

I like the idea of making my beans...my own. I never thought about seasoning them with anything other that salt before you can them.
