I have never seen smelt caught on a line before. We dip netted out of the Sandy in Oregon then froze them all. We fried em up with cornmeal. Poor folks fish sticks lol

Those smelt would be awesome fried up in some panko crumbs. Or egg washed with some batter Very similar to Japanese fried shiners

I'd have stagger stacked them. one tail down, next one tail up. This is how I pack chicken drumsticks and they fit well in quart jars that way.

I'm in AK we have hooligan here, gotta try it, only question, 75 minutes? I thought it was 110 minutes?

I haven't tried hooligan but would like to. I processed them for 75 min because I was using pint jars instead of quart.
