*VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON DRONE USE*
Before launching a drone be aware of the FAA rules on usage and restrictions. The Adirondacks also have their own set of rules regarding drone use. Please fly legally and responsibly. You can reference the land classifications map below for legal flying zones. Outside of the technical rules... and as a basic human courtesy... I also take special care to make sure I am not interrupting anyone's camping or nature experience. If people are around in these peaceful places... the drone stays grounded. Thank you. I really enjoyed this trip... and putting the video together. It was a labor of love as they say. Taking all the different clips slows me down (in a good way) and lets me really soak in the environment... and see things I might not notice otherwise. Thanks again.

Very relaxing and enjoyable with a great sound track devoid of the usual small dock fill ins. I knew you paddlers in the Adirondacks had a lot of portages but holly mackerel at times I wasn't sure if this should be called a paddle or a hike! No wonder Nessmunk loved those ultra light Rushton canoes. Here in Maine we sometimes paddle 100 miles without a single carry.
@CanoeCampClimb
@CanoeCampClimb 8 ай бұрын
Thank you. I am an avid hiker so I love the portages between ponds... well most of the time anyhow. I hope to do more paddling in Maine in the near future. I'm heading over to Portland in a few weeks (not paddling however)... a beautiful state you live in.

This was a beautiful trip with great scenery and nicely filmed and edited!! Very well done. Wondering what model and weight canoe you have. Do you use any padding on your shoulder when portaging?
@CanoeCampClimb
@CanoeCampClimb Жыл бұрын
Hey James. Thank you. I have a Placid Boatworks Rapidfire. I'll put the link below and that has all the specs. I do not use any padding... but some people simply use a pool noodle slipped over the gunnel. A pretty simple and effective solution. I do use a pad on the upper part of the shoulder strap on my dry bag backpack... but that is not for cushioning... it is just to create a nice little lip that I can hook the canoe gunnel over... making the carry a lot easier and at times hands free. placidboatworks.com/our-boats/rapidfire/

Great video, thank you. Just subscribed, and though I love to hear folks talk about their trips, sometimes you just let the images and video do the talking as you've demonstrated here. I'm relatively new to the whole thing, but I want to lighten up my gear footprint as much as possible as I ease into my 50's. Your seat looks even lighter than the GCI one I have. What are you using here for a seat, or did it come with the rapidfire?
@CanoeCampClimb
@CanoeCampClimb 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Sean. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The seat comes in the rapidfire.... and is certainly light... and very comfortable. Tweaking and experimenting with different gear is a lot of fun. I have my super light kit which I used in this video. For longer or cold weather trips I pack a bit more of course. I love the NRS 110L Bill's bag for just about any overnight trip. Did you see this winter canoe camping video? I used a tent and sleeping bag setup for this trip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqmWfHVthrOhjNU
