We have an absolute canoeing FAIL in Voyageurs National Park - spoiler alert, we are okay! Watch as we explore Voyageurs out on the water, the only way to really see the park. Follow along on our National Park road trip as we take our self-converted Ram Promaster to visit the 44 that remain!

Traveling is embedded into our relationship as we met on a Spring Break cruise in 2016. Since then, we haven't stopped traveling together in the United States and abroad. We left New York in July 2019 to travel the world and we took work with us, including starting a travel vlog. We have made it our mission to slow travel for 16 months throughout South America and Asia and to create travel videos along the way.
Due to the pandemic, we changed course and bought a van to convert into a campervan (#vanlife) to travel to all 50 National Parks in the lower 48 states (excluding Hawaii and Alaska) before Christmas. We are Brandon and Erin, follow the journey and stay tuned.

It’s a harrowing experience to be in a canoe in waves. Remaining calm is essential. Seems like you did a good job. Good video!

Yay! Minnesota was where I (Matt) grew up! Voyageurs is awesome! If you ever go back, the lake you were on allows motor boat traffic as you saw but you can get a boat to the start of a hiking trail where you hike in to canoes you can rent in advance from the National Park Service, and then you can canoe multiple lakes that don't allow motor boats. I've done it in the past and didn't see anyone else for 3 days. If you enjoy canoeing and portaging I would highly recommend the Boundary Waters too! It is a National Wilderness Area and sooooo worth it! Also no motor boats! And I'm sorry to say but you missed out on some amazing beers all across Northern Minnesota! haha Glad you two are having such a great and adventurous trip!

Matt, we totally had no idea what we were doing - wish I knew that beforehand so I could have asked you for suggestions! NPS wasn't renting anything due to covid but that sounds so awesome, I would have loved that. It's definitely a place we are going to come back to - I would love to do a multi day trip on the canoe with portaging. This trip is quick, it's almost like scouting out the parks to see which ones we want to come back to and spend a proper amount of time at. Thanks for watching!

@@travelingatlas Haha, I get that! Spur of the moment trips like that, especially with Covid, just how it goes. I hear ya there! Honestly, so many of the parks I've been to, and some multiple times, and I feel like I could spend the rest of my life exploring them and still not seeing everything!

Wow, that canoe trip back sounds intense, and just a little scary! I'm so glad you guys made it back, and so glad you had that adventure that you can laugh and talk about now!! That park looked really beautiful, and it's great that you got to see it the way it's supposed to be seen -- very cool!!! I agree with Erin, snakes are so cool and they are really sweet! I've been right close to many, including copperheads, and they have all been completely nonaggressive.. And Brandon, you are just like Einstein -- he would cook and eat out of the same pot to save time and energy and simplify his life! :-D Great video!

You might want to try doing some research before you drive halfway across the country next time. You guys are lucky to have your lives. Kabetogama is no joke.

It really isn't. We rented a canoe from a local shop, and you would have thought they would have prepped us for what we were in for... That being said, we are alright and ready for our next adventure.
