Spin the canoe around and sit in the front seat facing backwards and the canoe will balance out slit better without having to add a bunch of counterweight in the front. All that said nice mount and video.

LOL concerning the counterweight up front! Good job on the build.

Could use the same basic idea to add/ move seat(s) if you wanted to in most boats / canoes! Thanks!

Oh for sure, super sturdy, add any accessories you want with these clamps. Cheers!

Pro, nice Idea was thinking of ways to do this with the side mount canoe vs top lip. Instead of those fancy clamps you could have ran the angle iron on the outside and drilled holees through the angle iron, put bolts through and used a double nut system as a tensioner.

High Life box says it all. 😆 I was just thinking about sticking a trolling motor on my canoe. Good one man! 👍🫡

Sit on the front seat facing backwards for proper weight distribution in a symmetrical canoe.

Did you do a test with the heavier engine? If so, what do you think of it? And do you prefer engine bracket or would you rather have a square stern?
@EricFB5 ай бұрын
@@Black-March I have not tested it yet the the gas motor. Too many other projects on the go. That said it would handle it strength wise. If you only have 1 canoe the bracket works well if you want a mix of motor/ paddle. If you only plan to use the canoe with a motor I’d probably get a square stern canoe just to you have 1 less piece of gear to drag around. Cheers

@@EricFB Ended up getting the regular version, wasn't worth $400 extra for a square..

This is a beautiful design! I'll be copying it 😅 I feel like the motor was mou ted a little to far out. Was that intentional? I would think that closser to the boat would add more stability, but I've never used a motor, so i don’t know if there are any complications with mounting it that close.
@EricFB4 ай бұрын
Thank you! You could definitely mount the motor closer to the canoe. I left it long thinking I could shorten it later which I probably will. Cheers!

Would be a lot more stable and handle well with someone else up front, or a couple of bags of builders sand as ballast.

I’ve put some miles on this setup since the video and yes it’s much more stable with a more balanced load. Even took the whole family on an hour ride no issues. Cheers!
