Canon 5D Mark II Compact Flash Memory Card Requirements for Magic Lantern & SD to CF Adapter

The Canon 5D mark II uses Compact Flash memory cards. It has a type II slot, which means it is wider so that it could accommodate microdrives. It uses the FAT32 file system, with a maximum size of 2TB.
A SD to CF or microSD to CF card adapter will work. From my testing, they have an ~20MB/s continuous read and write speed. The adapter should work with the Canon 1D mark IV, Canon 7D, and Canon 50D as they also have DIGIC 4 processors and use CompactFlash cards.
If you want to record RAW video with Magic Lantern, you will need compact flash cards capable of 100MB/s continuous write speeds. My SanDisk Extreme has a peak of 120MB/s* . When tested in the Canon 5D mark II, it was only capable of 50MB/s.
The SankDisk Extreme Pro and Lexar Professional cards that are advertised as having 160MB/s* write speeds will be fast enough.

The reason that your sd card didnt because the Magic Lantern files is on another sd card thats why

No, the card doesn't work with the adapter. It didn't work in my computer or Digital Rebel (300D). The camera will still turn on if the CompactFlash or SD card doesn't have Magic Lantern files on it. It doesn't turn on with the 128GB SanDisk Extreme Pro in the adapter. Out of ~20 cards it was the only one that didn't work.

You will be able to record 1080p30 video. A fast CompactFlash card is needed if you want to to record 14-bit video.
