Upgrading from a second hand 80D to a new 90D next week. After looking at all the new cameras available in this price range (£1500 ish) the 90D is still far better than some of the newer mirrorless cameras. This Video helped me make my decision.

Great video! I wanted to implement suggestion #2, (4:55) it will take some getting used to but you have some great points about why one would want to do that. I thought for a moment that my camera menu was missing that option but then i realized i was on video shooting mode and not photo. #6 (11:53) is super useful!! I've had so much trouble with messed up shots because of the touch screen, I wondered why the lock didn't lock it but I didn't realize that you could change the setting. I've watched so many videos about this camera (that I own) but i've never found one where people talk about the pros and cons of using 4k in crop sensor mode vs full sensor.. Maybe I need to make one myself..

I use spot AF with shutter button AF. I aim the point at the intended focus point, half-press the button, focus, hold the button down and then compose the shot, then fully depress the shutter button. It sounds slow, but it's a lot faster than using the joystick to slowly move the AF point around... I find my method gives me the most control out of all the possible options.

The camera is touch screen 😅 so you actually don’t have to go through all of the other settings in order to get to the one that you want but this video was actually pretty helpful

With portraits freezing action is unnecessary but you will want to control depth of field so use AV to keep the lens open for out of focus background to your subjects.

its the same camera, one is mirrorless. 90D seems to have better battery life and more like a pro camera. I have the 90D with the battery extender, its amazing.

For me, i wouldnt. Though EF M is a good mount, optical view finder, big battery and deep grip is way more attrative to me. Plus, the EVF on the 6 m2 is gonna cost you another 100 bucks if not mistaken..

Do you know why the video duration is limited to 30 minutes on the 90D? I seem to be able to restart and go another 30 minutes. But ending without notice causes me to lose content. I have the camera and am happy, but this was an unpleasant surprise.

Jack on the Farm all of them do it that way. It’s limited by the camera on its own. Technically it can shoot videos over 30 minutes but then it’s considered a camcorder by law and underlies certain rules and restrictions. To prevent that, the dslr cameras start a second video after 30 minutes.

The aperture is a feature of the lens. I had a different lens than you. It sounds like your lens has a max aperture of 3.5 where my lens had a max aperture of 2.8. To get a wider aperture, you would have to purchase a different lens.

Either you are not using a compatible lens or more likely you have the auto focus switch on the lens set to manual.

Compressed RAW is lossless. While there may be other reasons not to use it, quality is not one of them. Good video otherwise.

Twice now I've tried following the 'back button' auto focus setup by you and another channel without any luck. Please slow down and go through this step by step slowly. You started out just fine with image setup and jumped very fast like I'm a pro with this camera. All I've really done so far is upload the new firmware and taken a couple snaps in doors.

(I assume you're talking about setting the joystick to choose focal points) It's good for when you're using the viewfinder, and offers fine-tuning where sometimes touching the screen isn't necessarily reading exactly where you want.
