Canon eos D30 (Canon's First DSLR) - My Thoughts

After making videos about old cameras for quite sometime now, I thought that it would only be natural to share my opinions on Canon's first DSLR that they deigned and produced by themselves. I personally really enjoy this camera but unlike many of the older cameras that I talked about, this camera has a very different characteristics and in this video I will also discuss about the pros and the cons of this camera and why I recommend it and also don't recommend. Hope you can gain something from this video! :-)

I own two D30's, both in mint condition. You might be able to tell I really like them. They are fine for most anything being posted on line and can still make excellent 8x10 prints.

Excellent Review... This proves that you dont need newest camera to make Excellent photos.... I still use D3s, D810 and even D90...

What would be your recommendation if you come from film photography and would like to buy an old dslr with still the film type (warm) feeling of film? Doubting between the Nikon D200 or even D1x and a Canon. But open to every option actually.

I recommend buying a fujifilm camera (if you not in a budget) because it have film simulation (fujifilm xt10 or perhaps a xt20 if you want better image quality)

Fuiji s5 pro is a wonderful happy medium. Great sensor and wonderful Nikon glass. Also my D1H is lovely for emulating high Asa black and white film.

Sigma Foveon cameras would be closest to shooting film but still be digital, very slow cameras but outstanding image quality from ISO 50 to 800, anything more then that is useless

I don't understand why Canon crippled these early digital cameras. My eos elan 7e has way more features and better design than this. My first camera was a 20D, which I bought in 2018, and it wasn't until years later I got an elan and wondered this. Maybe since Canon was already beating nikon with the eos line they got a little less ambitious with the cameras.

no，30D is more modern than D30

I am not so sure what you meant by "does the 10d count?" because I am not quite sure what you does the "count" refer to in this case but if you mean as a first DSLR from Canon, I would have to say no because the 10D came out rather quite a few years after the D30.
