I sold my EOS M5, like, 6 years ago along with its 22mm f2.0 lens because I was in desperate need of money. Now I just starting to get financially stable and I want to buy some compact camera to shoot, yet the M5 still seems like a no-brainer to buy. I wish I could hold on to that camera all these years

What i like from m6 ii is it is super fast burst, high megapixels and all three parameters are in their seperate dials, aperture, iso and shutter speed

I loved that camera so much, I had two of them. It was my favorite camera, although I own 2 R6, I enjoyed shooting with the M6 Mk ii so much more. And the size is so compact I had one with me all the time. I brought one to my daily dog walks at the park. Design, size, ease of use and, most of all, quality, makes it the perfect camera. I even did am event with just both M6 MK II Last year was very low and had to sell them both at the beginning of the year. Which made me very sad. Canon shouldn't have discontinued the M series. I hope they launch an Mish system with the RF mount.

Agree the M6ii is still a gun. I'm still looking for a good deal on a M6ii to keep my EF-M glass alive. M3, M50ii and now getting into R6/R6ii. EF-M 22, 30, 56mm are super tiny and awesome to play with.

I also love my M6II. I automatically go for it when traveling, hiking, or walking. There is something about Canon cameras (also Nikon) they just feel right in my hands. Probably because they have been making cameras for so long. The M6II is a joy to use. What is on my negative list? I wish it had some sort of weather sealing and (more minor) I wish it had a built in viewfinder.

I‘ve used nearly every Canon camera you could imagine and for some reason I like their apsc sensors more than their full frame sensors. The color rendition and sharpness are just more pleasing. That said, pair this camera with the exceptional 32mm f1.4 and you’ll get stunning images.

I don't want to love it because Canon abandoned the line, changed lense mount, software is old, etc. But when I take it with me, it is so much value per gram/ size, that I buy another lens. The results are incredible.

2:47 it's funny because I daily use the R6 with the 35mm but I'm looking for something more compact to fit in my everyday carry sling. Thanks for the video because that very specific example is what I needed! Biggest let down is the fact there's no burst in electronic shutter, I use that all the time on my R6 for the type of Street Photography I do and I use ES not because of speed but because of silence. If Canon made a camera exactly like this one but with the newer processor in the RF mount I'd buy it straight away, the design of this camera is exactly what I want, compact with a tilt screen.

Where do we go from here? I bought one off of my dad for a good price and he included the 22mm and 18-55mm lenses as well as the viewfinder. I absolutely love the camera size and image quality. I bought a used Sigma 56mm that completes my setup for now, but a little disappointed in the discontinuation of the M line. I don't see the camera as an 'investment' but the whole series. I am now afraid to buy any more lenses in the EFM range (I really want the 16mm and 55-200mm) because they will become paper weights after my M6 is no longer in working order. I plan to use the camera as long as possible as the ergonomics are absolutely perfect for me, but now any lenses I buy I will have to buy EF or EFS lenses so that hopefully any future camera I buy I will be able to use them with an adaptor at least, which isn't possible for the EFM lenses. So what do I do now? Keep the current lenses I have until the camera no longer functions and then hopefully get a Sony or Fuji and start with lense purchases all over again? Or do I buy the converter and use EFS lenses, but then in the future there won't be any small Canon cameras so I am forced to buy a bigger camera? Really bad predicament I got myself in.

I have canon gear going back to the late 1980s. It all still works. What is great about the M series is its size, build quality on my M1, M3 and M5. The M3 has been all over the world and still works brilliantly. The small leather protective case was expensive but works well. The M3 came as a kit with the EV and the lens converter. I believe the EV will works with the M6 mk2. However, my M5 is to my mind the peak of the M series design. The viewfinder being built in allows me to use a flash, all the buttons are in the right places and it seems to have more refined ergonomics. OK so here is my dilemma. I could do with 4K and the extra MP that the M6 allows. I’m off on a bucket list tour of China is a few months. That involves several moves of location and a river cruise. So weight and kit value is an issue. If you were me would you take an EOS 5D mk3, three L lenses, the M5 the 11-22mm M lens and converter, or just the full M kit (11-22, 18-55, 55-200 and 22) and spare M3 as a backup body? Unfortunately I find the M telephoto a bit soft at times. Is it worth getting the M6 mk2 and the canon 32mm 1.4, or the three sigma primes, for the highest quality images? In the old days I used to cart a Bronica MF 6 by 4.5, 3 primes, EOS1 20-35 2.8L, 80-200 2.8L and a tripod. This kit went to India and the famous sites in the west of the USA like the Grand Canyon and collectively created amazing slides on Fiji Velvia. But I’m 30 yrs older now so weight is an issue. My iPhone 13 Pro does take great 4K with the cinema thing so that’s my fall back I guess. I’ve about £1.2k to spend so a second hand M6 and a prime or 2 is one option. The tiny and amazing Sony RX 100 mk 7 is another option for cities etc. I have considered selling stuff and getting an R8 but it’s plasticky, overpriced and the essential converter impossible to get in time for my trip (3 months on). I guess the ultimate option is to flog it all and put it towards the new OM1 mk2, its kit pro 12 to 40 2.8 and 40 to 150 2.8 pro lenses. Small very well made, weather sealed and on a tripod capable of huge files for once in a lifetime landscapes etc. it’s close on £4K but think it’ll last many years. That feels like a drastic step for a Canon guy.

Keep it light either an M cam you already have, the 22mm and some ttartisan primes and a zoom, or a rx100v7
@andrewcrossley24488 ай бұрын
@@krakapoww I tried out the little Sony. Cool and very good build but so small I couldn’t really use it, even with the grip. I’ve got hold of a Fuji X100VI so I’ll take that, the M5 it’s 11 to 22mm and it’s telephoto. The little 22mm may go along for the ride to compare to the Fuji. If I don’t like the Fuji I’ll just flog it. I’m doing a trial run to Cyprus next week.

The handgrip rubber peeled off my camera and the shutter dial misclicks all the time, jumping my shutter speed up to 30 seconds by just a light tap. I love that it’s smaller than my X-E4 and can still shoot decent 4K and pack a punch with the 32mm f/1.4. If it wasn’t so broken I’d definitely use it more.

Oof really unfortunate there! Haven’t had an issue with mine yet! The X-E4 is a pretty cool camera though - I’ve tried one out recently.
@Linteria10 ай бұрын
Brother, I feel your pain. My first M6ii suffers from this problem. From what I’ve been told it’s due to a faulty spring in the shutter dial, so any camera repair shop should be able to fix it. But I just disabled it and therefore sacrificed that dial to no longer have the issue. Ended up getting a second body that did not have this problem, thankfully. From what I understand tho it’s a semi-common problem with this camera, unfortunately. I should try to get it fixed tho, it really hinders the functionality of the camera. You should try to as well.

Why Canon stop Eos M system ????
@Linteria10 ай бұрын
Walter, my boy! While the lack of continuous shooting with electronic shutter is trash, you're forgetting the feature they put in this camera to alleviate that issue: 30 fps RAW burst mode with electronic shutter and half-second pre-shooting enabled. Sure, it's only at 18mp, but it's super fast and more than adequate. The pre-shooting feature alone makes it a killer app function. Plus it shoots 10 fps faster than your 20mp R6! At only 2mp lower resolution. Now you need a follow up video talking about this. 😉
@walter_fernandez10 ай бұрын
Oh yes that RAW burst mode is a pretty cool feature! Unfortunately I don’t find myself using it all that much due to a couple of reasons - extra crop on an already cropped sensor as well as the rolling shutter issue. It is pretty cool in certain use cases I imagine however I don’t really find myself using it that often. Could also just be because I’m not able to map a shortcut to it haha
@Linteria10 ай бұрын
@@walter_fernandez I hear you on all that, very true. I have mine mapped to the trash button. While you need to click more than once, my muscle memory has learned how to do the 5 clicks pretty quickly. First click down (trash), then set, then down again, set again, and focus button to end and go back to the shooting screen. It took me a while to figure this set up out and I don’t know if many others are using it on the M6ii, but I’ve found it to be the most effective way of mapping this feature to a shortcut. Of course pre-shooting is always enabled so that saves a couple clicks. I wish it were just a single click away, but only Canon knows why they made it this way. Better than nothing, though!
