The F-1 was the best film SLR I ever owned. They were first produced in 1971, not "the late 70's." The button on the back is not "flash on and off:" it's the meter switch. Things you neglected to say: there's a hot flash shoe surrounding the rewind knob, much like a Nikon F2. You needed a special adapter to use it. The metering system measured a central box, shown in the viewfinder by a grey rectangle. It was the most accurate meter I ever used until the very complex system in the Olympus OM4. There's a mirror-up switch on the self-timer. The viewfinder could be swapped for eye-level, magnifying, high eye-point, auto-exposure, and low-light alternatives. The back was swappable with 250 exposure and data-imprinting alternatives. There were two motor drives available. Finally, the old breech-lock ring on the FD lenses -- like the one in your video -- was the only lens mounting system ever developed that compensated for wear. It was a brilliant design that was ruined when Canon traded it for a inferior bayonet adaptation. The F-1 was a brilliant and indestructible tank of a camera -- much better than the more famous Nikon F and F-2 (which I have also owned). Not a bad beginning as a video review, but do your homework.

Hey, quick question i have this exact model and i'm really interested in getting the camera back in working shape. Do you have an suggestions on modern lenses to purchase? will i need to purchase an lense adapter or will any modern lense do? Thank you
@ThatCanonGuysReviews11 жыл бұрын
I would look on Ebay for Canon FD Mount Lenses. No modern lenses will work for this camera as it is from the early 80s:)
