It is amazing how close they let you get. I thought I was able to get close to the elk around here by being within 20 yards. You got some great images. That little R10 does great in the right hands. The video was really fun to watch. Thanks for sharing this unique experience.

Glad you enjoyed it. Closest I got was maybe 15 yards and lots of trees between the and me :) But in the Anchorage bowl area the moose are more tolerant. R10 is a cool little camera. Ill have a low light performance video and a full review in next week or so.

Amazing! You’re one of the few wildlife photographers who are as passionate about moose as I am on here. I’m saving up for the R10 and pairing it with a sigma 150-600 contemporary lens. Can’t wait for the future!

Holy smoke. What an incredible experience, footage and stills. I can't believe how close you can get to those moose. The moose where I live (Norway)is insanely shy, and its impossible to get so close to without spooking. One sound or if they smell you, and bang they are gone. And dang, that r10 delivers 😳

The moose in the Anchorage bowl are fairly tolerant. Anywhere else and you can't get anywhere close to them. I can only approach closer when I have the woods to work through so I have tree between me and them in case of a charge. And yes the R10 performs well.

That was fantastic, do you have to watch how you approach them? Well done so nice to see them in their environment and doing normal behaviour.

Yes you do have to be very careful as moose are very dangerous. ALWAYS have a tree between you and them in case of a charge and if that happens you're planning ring around the rosey with the moose. If you noticed when you see shadows there's several trees near me and im almost always standing next to a tree in the video.

How high is the possibility of the bulls charging at us humans?
@WILDALASKA2 жыл бұрын
It happens fro time to time. You have to be careful especially during the RUT. This was pre-RUT and the moose are just jostling and early clashes. Once they start making RUT pits, then you have to be very very careful as all the moose are buts at that time (which is happening now). The bulls are more tolerant except in rut and the cows are a bit unpredictable bay time of year. So im are worried about a cow vs a bull. ALWAYS have a tree between you and them in case of a charge and if that happens you're planning ring around the rosey with the moose.

You don’t need any zoom lens, just a wide lens or a smartphone is all you need !!!! 😳😳😳 Maybe a helmet and safety rodeo gear for your protection. 🤣

It seems closer than it actually was. Lot of punch ins on the video. But yes a rodeo clown to distract them would be nice :P
