I still think this is the best combo for hybrid. I like using the R6 for mainly video and the R5 as a dedicated stills camera. Thanks for the videos, I have been seeing you a lot on my feed. Cool stuff!

One main reason I didn't go with the R6 was the lack of a top LCD display because I rely on it quite often. It's much easier to look at the top LCD display when I want to copy settings from one body to another while walking through a field full of obstacles with the sun in my eyes while taking a couple out for sunset photos (among other situations). I'm using the 120Hz mode on the R5 EVF but I also have battery grips on my bodies and power them off when not shooting - learned that the hard way thanks to the *temperature warning icon*
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
It is a bit easier with that top display for sure. I’m usually dial body so I just look into my EVF and copy settings. :)

Thanks for your feedback. The R6 is a great camera. Love mine, amazing for photos, great for with video with limitations, it does overheat.

R5 for the A cam and r6 for my B cam. I find myself often filming on my r6 and doing photo on my r5. Or I’ll use the 24-70 on my r5 and a 70-200 on the r6 for what I’m doing
@RickyCheung2 жыл бұрын
Nice. I have reach the heat limit on the R6 a lot so I’m reversed. With the 1.6 the R5 is no issue for heat for me anymore. We have best of both worlds.
@brandonwillis23972 жыл бұрын
@@RickyCheung I shoot such short videos it’s not a problem that’s why i had no issues switching from Sony to canon despite the over heating. I can’t get away from the 45mpx so i use it for photos. I’d love to have two r5’s or even an r3 but yolo they’re both great cams and I’ll shoot on both whichever is closest to grab when i need it
I'm currently deciding whether I should get a R5 or R6. I do a lot of behind the scenes for music videos, movies, but also take a lot of music album covers, celebrity portraits, and concert photography. Which one would you recommend?
@RickyCheung2 жыл бұрын
Haley, that's tough. As my experience growths with the R5/R6 knowing they both will overheat at 4k60+, (4k24 no issues). If you do photo and video at the same time, you need to manage your expectations, again it will overheat and only allow you to continue to shoot stills. (No problems in stills, it will shoot forever in my experience) If you shoot more video content, I might lean towards an R5C at this point. If you are shoot clips, here and there, I think you'll be fine with either. Hope this helps.

As a wildlife camera l always left wondering do l have the megapixels. Well yesterday l printed an 8x10 cropped about 60% out of R6 and though printer gave message low quality the print is superb and l have no doubt it would print fine at A3.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I can only imagine how much cropping a wildlife photographer needs but I’m happy the R6 has a top quality 20mp sensor for ya. I’m remembering the days of my godo old 30D that started my career at 8MP an not a single client complained. But ya the R6 is unbelievable good.
@isotechimages.91303 жыл бұрын
@@RickyCheung Cannot complain, it is sometimes suggested it overpriced and it is expensive but the guts of the camera is all top spec.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. The spec is definitely up there for a camera of this caliber but I see soo many great photographers with less. We can’t say we are limited by gear anymore. :)

I love my R6, especially being a KZbin/enthusiast guy, but I sure do miss the possibility of custom video modes... I am struggeling a bit with skin tones when shooting video, but I hope that I can work around this. For photography this camera is an absolute joy to use and makes taking pictures such a fun experience.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Hmm interesting I haven’t had issues with skin tones on the R6. I did see some comment about that maybe... earlier models, I dunno. I do miss the quick change in vid modes that the r5 has but a sacrifice made for a touch better lower light performer :). Thanks for watching and keep shooting.

Curious as to what you photographers are shooting including your backup? R5/R6 combo, dual R5s, dual R6s, good old dSLR, maybe you walked into the dark side with Sony, Nikon :) ?
@jaypainespotter3 жыл бұрын
R6/RP at the moment. I thought about the R5 but I instead used that money and then some and invested heavily in RF glass. I'll upgrade with the R3 or R1 or even pick up and R5 down the road second hand. I have 6 RF lenses and soon I'll have a seventh when the 100mm macro comes out later this year.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Wow nice kit with loaded RF. Good move to load up on glass. 👍

Two EOS R5 bodies and an EOS R as a backup. Hope to get the EOS R3 as soon as it's available.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
The R is so vastly different from the R5/R6 I couldn’t use the R as my backup. Lol.
@JaredRibic3 жыл бұрын
@@RickyCheung - Exactly! I have two EOS R5 bodies and when I pick up the EOS R for either photo or video it's an adjustment. But it's there because I can't afford *three* EOS R5 bodies, well I could if I really wanted to, but instead I'm saving for the EOS R3. I use the EOS R for livestreaming though, and I like that it has a mini-HDMI jack instead of the micro-HDMI jack on the EOS R5.

I loved your review. Like you I have both cameras and I really love the R6 for lowlight situations. I have shot on movie sets where the R5 pics looked like mush due to the high iso needs. The R6 came in and saved the day. The pics from it are actually being used for the advertising of the last film. I also like to use it for lowlight video as well along with the Ninja V.
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Yea agreed, the R6 has a hair difference but noticeable better ISO, I do find myself picking up the R6 more and more when I know I won’t need/want 4k120. Who am I kidding, I never NEED 4k120 but it looks soooo good. :). Having best of both worlds when needed.
@Scott-yn3qq3 жыл бұрын
if you could have either and you needed a camera to shot low light events - would you choose r6 or r5?
@RickyCheung3 жыл бұрын
Scott the R6 has lower resolution and edges out the R5 in high ISO for low light events slightly. For receptions I default to R6 for this reason and I don’t necessarily need 45MP for event work. Easier on the workflow.
