Hello, quick tip: you can't test R5 IBIS with image stabilized EF lens, because then IBIS is not in use. Only RF lenses can use IBIS and lens image stabilisation.

Great video. Honestly, one of the best comparison videos out there. Shoot Sony now but cannot stand the size, feel and user interface so plan on switching to Canon.

Tyler... I just found your channel while comparing these 2 cameras. I think we have similar hobbies. Instant sub and like, and I can't wait to binge all your work! Wondering if you could answer a specific question... Complete newb who has gear acquisition syndrome. I'm probably 60/40 on the R5 because of the still resolution, and I want to capture some of the magnificent views I find while hiking and off-roading/overlanding, but one of my main concerns is that I really want to be able to do arrow flight analysis (compound bow / 294 fps arrow speed). I know the A7SIII will shoot 240fps and the R5 is 120fps max. Do you think I could slow the R5 footage down enough to track the arrow and see the flight well enough to analyze at 120fps?
@TylerEdwards Жыл бұрын
I haven’t done arrow flight analysis before so I’m not sure exactly what that entails, but if I needed to slow it down as much as possible, I’d probably be looking at a phantom or that Freefly slow motion camera. 120 (even 240) isn’t all that slow for something moving that fast.

cool video...just a question: you said that the sony has better dr...than you show 2 situations in difficult light situation where both cameras seems to have the same dr...so...did i miss something?

I’d prefer the a7siii for noise AF and dynamic range but canon colors are the best. Any suggestions to get canon colors on Sony :)?

Hi Tyler I have a question. When Shooting on a Log footage specifically SLOG 3 on SONY A7SIII, should I always over expose my image in 2 stops( is it necessary?) with my ISO or should I use 640 iso and overexpose it a bit with our lights? ( When exposing in a controlled environment) And also about overexposing the log footage. My friend are always using the 2nd native iso (12800) even in a controlled environtment like in studio or sets, but we monitor on creative mode with the ISO of 640 and adjust the lights, but when we switch at slog3 he always changed the ISO to 12800. I always argue with him to change it to 640 and overexpose it with our lights but he doesn't listen. Can you please explain it to me what is the best thing to do? HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME, I'M STILL AN AMATEUR FILMMAKER HEHEHE
@TylerEdwards2 жыл бұрын
I sometimes will expose to the right by 1-1.5 stops but honestly I don’t think it is necessary if staying at 640 because the built in NR keeps shadows really clean-especially in a studio lit environment. I’d never use 12,800 in a studio environment for normal taking head stuff as it has less DR at that ISO.

Hey, Tyler, I am a Sony a7siii user. I am very into komodo's natural cinema look over sony's digital sharpness, even with the mist filter on; any thought on that? Will you make a video of the Komodo vs. A7siii/fx3 comparison video? Thanx!
