This just makes me so happy to have traded my r5 for the gfx. I just compared your files and i like the look out of the gfx almost every time. Editing in Capture one also help choosing the nostalgic neg (maybe this can be done in LR but i dont know) but it helps to eliminate that magenta and looks much closer the the starting color of canon, meaning my presets works interchangeably from canon to the gfx with little to no teaks other than normal things i would do to the canon regardless. Thanks for doing these comparisons and sharing the raw files.

Nice comparison. The interesting point you are making and experiencing about contrast is an important one as it effects even the GFX line internally(within the system of its lenses). The 63mm, 80mm and the 120mm are both more contrasty than the 110mm which will render hair and pores slightly differently as if they are sharpened differently. This makes the 110mm the most pleasant for skin while the 120mm better option for jewels and product work. This makes understanding the qualities of each of the tools great to have when picking each for the output. The 50s11 is great but a bit slower than the 100s. Glad you made the distinction in f2 vs the gf f2.8. Ironically it should have given the r5 a slight advantage regarding output qualities and sharpness but hey life is life.

Yes that’s what I thought as well but the gfx files still seemed more pleasant! The 110 f2 is maybe the best portrait lens I’ve ever used in my opinion

The gf lenses are likely superior to all in its class even rivaling my old hasselblad glass.the quality covering the larger image circle means that even if Sony or nikon or Canon decided to licence the large sensor that they would also need to create new lenses as even the best glass designed for " full frame" although not that much smaller of an image circle, the quality in adaptation is much lower on the large sensor due to edge being masked by smaller image circle. I have experimented with them and you would need to crop which means they are inferior in this use case. It doesn't matter as it just means a new set of lenses but it would be horrible to someone who has spent thousands on a system only needing to still sell all their gear to upgrade within the same system.

Hey! It’s not very hard, it’s in a bunch of my presets but, the thing you need to do is is make sure you get the skin the right tone to offset it. Mess with the blue sliders hue and saturation in hsl tab

Fantastic comparison 👌📸 the gfx100s is a lot better and faster camera to work with than the gfx50sii and Fuji medium format hopefully soon will soon have better focusing abilities in the next iterations

Having both lenses at f2.8 is not apples to apples. The bigger sensor would have a shallower dof at equal fstops. It would be similar to having an apsc vs full frame and putting them both at f2.8. The full frame will have a shallower depth of field. Because the smaller apsc sensor would have an f4 equivalent dof at f2.8. I dont know the math between full frame and the fuji medium sensor size. But if you had the full frame lens at f1.4 it would probably be similar dof to the fuji lens at f2.8. And that is why in your comparison the fuji files look less crispy or softer when zoomed in.

It’s actually about f2 on the 35mm to equal, similar bokeh on 45mm 2.8 of gfx. But full frame still wasn’t sharp enough so I bumped it a bit to make it more of a fair fight.

Would be interested to know how you converted the Canon Raw files, PS and LR do not do a good job with Canon raw files, try putting the same Raws through DXO pure raw, then use Topaz DeNoise if required Difference is night and day

@@SNAPAVELI I shoot Sony which is hardly cheap but some of the RF lens prices are ridiculous. Be interesting to see the price of an RF 35mm f1.2 in comparison to Sigma’s 35mm f1.2 DG DN on emount. Again just a rumour but supposedly they are releasing a 50mm f1.2 Art DG DN as well within the next 6-7 weeks.
