To access the 240fps in 1080p, you don't have to enable High Frame Rate recording. Doing so only removes the audio and bakes the slow-motion into the file as the OG R5 did. So, you can record slow-motion at all frame rates with audio or without. Using the High Frame Rate recording option is how you do so, leaving that off retains the audio and keeps the video playing back at normal speed. Thanks for the video!

Great video! I think Griffin Conway said it best on a recent stream when he said about the C80 vs C70, "Canon is really good at releasing a new camera that is both better and worse than the existing cameras." Especially when speaking specifically about video and how this R52 stacks up against the R5C, that statement nails it.

So far, I’ve decided to keep my R5 and my R5C. Did you decide to keep either of them? There are a lot of features in photo mode that no one talks about. Small things that I like. I can set “Priority” on my CF card so if the camera has a CF card, photos go to it. The R5 switches to the SD card if you remove the CF card and close the door and never switches back when the CF card is put back in. The AF has custom sets of settings which can be named. The focus bracketing works with flash. The electronic shutter works with flash. I can still hit the “movie” button while in photo mode and capture a movie using the C3 movie mode settings. The cooling I think is genius. It *can* be cooled with a fan and seems to be better cooled even without a fan.

I am definitely keeping my R5 and R5C. They are still great cameras and very useful to my workflow. Plus its nice having a 3 camera setup ready to go when I need it. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

I get the aspect of canon not letting 3rd party batteries to be used, it sucks. But if someone is buying a $4200 camera what a couple extra $200 or $300 for batteries? Most people buying this camera write this off as a business expense.

Thanks for a pro-view! I don’t have this camera but the R5. All in all I think these 3 new cameras R52, C80 and C400 work as a whole system. As long as one need a video camera but gets a hybrid there will be compromises. But what we can do with the hybrids today is just fantastic!

I really think you are spot on with this view. These new cameras are absolutely incredible, and I have to admit the C80 is looking really good right now.... Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

Hey... Whats your Opinion on somebody who look into a new cam a Canon R5C or the R5 mkll?.. Maninly a B cam and Great for Stills work. Thank you !
@DeafDirector8 күн бұрын
Its a complicated question, that I really think comes down to your A cam. I have used the R5C as a B cam many times, and it works great. The R5mk2 obviously has some incredible features, too. But my instinct (if you already have a dedicated A Cam for video) for a B Cam would be the R5C. It does great photos, super solid video and with the savings you could start saving for a nice lens. Have a great day!

How many more stops for video do you think the dynamic range is to the R5?
@DeafDirector8 күн бұрын
Based on my (non-scientific) shoots, I'd say that CLog2 gives me about 1 stop more, You really see it in the Highlights. Just make sure you don't underexpose the image, because CLog2 does not do well if you have to raise it in post. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
@heynow28807 күн бұрын
@@DeafDirector so is Clog2 worst then Clog3 when underexposed? I find with the R5 when underexposed a couple stops with Clog3 and raising the gamma starts to flatten my color grade.
@DeafDirector7 күн бұрын
I personally find that CLog2 is noisier when raised, but you can usually apply a DeNoiser to it. I just tend to be very, very careful about exposing to the right (without clipping) when in CLog2

@@DeafDirector be honest is it worth the upgrade from a R5? Also keep hearing the battery life is terrible on it. Is that true?

Canon never improves anything in their cameras by FW :-( They might fix some issues and add some experimental features that no one uses (like fake 100Mb) , but no improvements.
@hunktubes8 күн бұрын
pfff not a Canon user are you? Canon keeps improving the camera's with firmware updates....
@DeafDirector8 күн бұрын
Have faith. I will say, as a Canon R5 owner, that Canon firmware updates completely evolved and changed the functionality and usefulness of the camera. When the R5 first came out, there were a number of annoying quirks with it, and the firmware updates have turned it into a really solid, great camera. You can go back and look at my videos on my channel to see the evolution. Have a great day!

The battery issue is the most irritating Canon thing about the camera. I preordered a spare with the camera so I’m good but wish I had ordered 2 or 3 instead of just one. The crazy thing about it is that you would have thought that Canon would have literally millions of the lp-e6p batteries ready to go given their cripple hammer approach to sell them! 🤦🏻♂️😡
@DeafDirector8 күн бұрын
It's really something. I hope there's a firmware update that at least allows you to access the same functionality as the R5 (like 24fps in 4K fine), but we will have to see. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

@@DeafDirector Just as a follow up, I went ahead and placed an order for 2 more LP-E6P batteries early last week to get on a back order list. I got confirmation that they are shipping to me this evening so apparently there has been another shipment of them to dealers, at least here in the US. 🤷🏻♂️👍🏻
