Awesome video. Could you maybe share any links to the battery options you mentioned in the video and that tripod you’re using. Thank you . Again, great video.

Thanks for watching. I've updated the video description to include links to the two battery options as well as the tripod. The tripod version that I own however is the Series 1, which they don't make anymore. They've since updated it to the Series 2, which is linked in the description. Hope that helps!

This is a awesome video. How’s the battery life and auto focus on the R5C. I’m trying to make a choice between that and the C70. Thanks for sharing the power options !!! The Apple laptop plug is clutch!!!

Sorry lol I watch video and ask questions at the same time you answered the power questions great video I subscribed!!!

@@JosephRossPhotography Thanks for watching! Just to reiterate, you definitely need some battery workarounds, but there are options. And for me and my usage, the auto focus is fantastic. Nothing to complain about on my end.

Really informative. If you get time, can you please also go into what settings you keep when you interview people? Do you shoot in raw mode or prefer a profile?
@dustinschmidtphoto7 ай бұрын
I’ve done both but lately I’m leaning more towards clog3 and the 709wideDR profile in 4k for interviews. It’s just way easier on my computer to edit with and it looks great.

This is a really useful video. Thank you for sharing. I’m planning to order an R5C in next few days, but it seems like I will need a lot of accessories, and I’m concerned about the cost. Your advice for lower budget alternatives is very helpful.

For long run corporate work I get it but I get 50 minutes and I can't remember needing longer than that on the majority of what I shoot. The cheap batteries work perfectly fine.

That's great! If it works for you then no need to change. I often need runtimes in the several hour range for multiple interviews in a row, so swapping out a bunch of LP-E6's wouldn't be ideal for me.

Hi Dustin, thanks for sharing the video. Your recommendation of Kessler base and Anker PB are almost a must have for this camera that is still a bit tricky to rig, finding the right balance between size and function. I wanted to ask, How is the 18-80mm lens on the R5C? Does it provide coverage? Are you shooting in APSC mode? It's clever if it works, I never thought of trying mine on the R5C.
@dustinschmidtphoto2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for checking out the video. Yeah, if I use the 18-80 it's in the super35 mode. It doesn't provide coverage in full frame, except for maybe zoomed all the way out to the 70-80 range. But as a super35 option, the 18-80 is fantastic. The lens IS works great on it, great range in super35, etc. That's one of the things I love about the R5C, is the ability to use both full frame and super35 options.

@@dustinschmidtphotoYou can eeek a little more coverage out of the 18-80 if you shoot in full frame 8k then crop about 20 percent in post. Kind of a cool feature

@@Aaron-Almquist Wow, I'd never thought of trying that. I'll give it a look. Thanks for the tip!

Does the 18-80 autofocus work in stills mode?
@dustinschmidtphoto Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes the autofocus technically works in stills mode. But it's incredibly slow. It doesn't function in the same way that a dedicated stills lens does. It's not snappy and instant. It kind of slowly comes in to focus. I love that lens for video, but personally wouldn't use it for stills.

Just following up on this, I can't get the 18-80's autofocus to work in photo or video mode (Continuous AF is greyed out), did you find a loophole to make it work? I'm using the Canon ND filter adaptor. Weird! @@dustinschmidtphoto

@@mark.tipple I guess I would ask the obvious question if you have updated all of your firmware across the board? You may double check on that?

Ahhh lens firmware update did the trick, thanks for the heads up!@@dustinschmidtphoto
