As a Sony user, I really want a Sony camera more or less just like this. Something between an fx3 and fx6, with internal ND, 6k, triple base iso, updated autofocus.

a9iii has the closest 6K sensor and it's a great hybrid camera. I expect it to be used on FX9II.

2:06 the biggest change imo is that they ditched the dgo sensor which is an immediate disqualification since that is the reason the C70 was sooo amazing. The loss of dynamic range is a shame

They done DR tests between the two sensors, c80/c400 aint far back compared to the DGO sensor.

@@KarlevidProductions Its not only about the pure DR but also highlight roll off and other similar attributes of the sensor. Honestly, I got Sony mainly because of the high dual ISO in addition to the Canon but it still guts me that its not DGO.

A major feature the C80 is missing that C70 had is 120fps with audio. C80 recording mode S&F Clip / Audio is capped at 60fps.

I just shot a wedding on a c70 and yes SAME issues that TINY screen and NO evf really forced me to trust my waveforms and clouds were splotchy ugh... good thing I shot raw LT -still had to transcode to pro res to edit it all smoothly between cameras as B and C were a R5 and an R7 but the stuff I shot looks stunning the DGO is something I hope they dont abandon completely.

how can you tell that this LCD is tiny. If your eyes can see properly. It bigger than any built in screen on a market with proper camera form factor (not BM brick)

I own a C70 and the lack of EVF drives me nuts - c'mon Canon. Shooting outside it's near impossible to see the built in display- I have a used Zacuto EVF that works good. I'm surprised you made no mention of the low light on the camera or sharpness of the image due to down-resing from 6k to 4k- two of the the things I'd buy the camera for.

For an EVF I'm really hoping Canon builds a more budget friendly option using the USBC protocol. Like the Pyxis options. Really wish they have a built in EVF too. Would be dope. For the screen brightness, did you up the luminance or run on the defaults? You can run the monitor with +6 luminance setting vs the the c70's just +2 and I find even at +2 the screen is decent in bright sunlight.

@@connormccaskill Are you sure you were doing the luminance setting and not the brightness? Brightness does essentially nothing. It's the same on the c70, the default "normal" luminance (backlight) sucks outdoors, but +2 is very usable.

Those viewfinders that connect via USB-C are using DisplayPort. DisplayPort is superior to HDMI, so I'm with you that more camera makers should adopt it (with locking, strain-relieved plugs).

The lack of a viewfinder and the puny screen are huge issues. By the time you're done addressing those, you have a big rig that largely squanders the "compact" design of this camera... which is still pretty big to begin with. The viewfinder market is hugely underserved. As noted here, there are so few options available; and they're expensive. Shooting with a screen sucks in most cases, but outdoors it's basically impossible to ensure that you're focused and exposed correctly. And then the autofocus: This is great for the run-&-gun or one-man operator, but you need to use the touchscreen to select the object on which to focus. I haven't figured out how you're going to do that while using a viewfinder and moving... holding a heavy rig steady with one hand. The flat design is also awkward; I got the BMPC 4K when it came out, and the C70 & C80 are basically the same shape. If you put it on rails and a shoulder mount, you need a lot of weight way behind you to counterbalance the camera, lens, and follow-focus rig (which we shouldn't even need anymore, since there are focusing motors INSIDE the lenses that we should be able to control). And if you don't have it on your shoulder, then what? You're going to hold the whole setup in front of you on bent arms all day? This is a terrible way to work. You only make that mistake once. So... I have the C80, but I'm already questioning how often I'll feel like bothering with it because it's still pretty bulky and offers no good viewing option. It occurs to me that one might as well get the FX3 if you're going to have to rig it up.

I really like the FX6, but I’m not sure I agree with that. The FX6 is starting to feel old because of its sensor and size. I feel like they’ll update that camera soon enough

I actually had a bit in this video about wanting CF express card slots, but my friend informed me that you can still record RAW video onto the SD cards so I don’t personally think that’s an issue anymore. 6k 60fps, I have no answer for.

@@connormccaskill it's due to the sd card speed limits for 6k 60fps, but I wouldn't be surprised they will do a LT version. The no cf express cards comment makes no sense to me when sd cards is cheaper media.
