Fullframe RF is and stays strictly locked, and Canon won't change that. This is the core of their FF business model. To lock (naive?) new users into a forever-locked system with a forever lens monopoly, to cash in from monopoly pricing forever.

While the CF express B might imply that this camera will be capable of uncropped 4K120, I'm personally not a fan of the whole "one CF express B and one SD card" thing. Redundant recording in all modes is a requirement for me. Pick one card type and give me two slots. That said, I'll be happy if this drives down the price of the R6II.

It’s worth mentioning that redundant recording for stills and redundant recording for video are two very different things. Like you can record the same quality of stills to both cards, but I don’t think many hybrid cameras would let you record the highest quality/fastest speed to both cards simultaneously.

Hey buddy you have to remember that R6 is kind of a video centric camera if they put a 33 megapixel sensor in it it will lose it low light capability at the moment. I’ve shot a wedding video on my Canon R62 at 12,800 iso and I’m telling you it is clean so higher resolution will not be a better option. What would be great? clog2 would be amazing with the stacksensor

@@nathanjimenez1562 Somebody replied to me earlier that the R6iii is going to use the same sensor as the R3 (and consequetly the C400 which is said to use the R3 sensor). In looking at the cineD database, the R3 only has a dynamic range of 11.2 stops (SNR=2), but the C400 has a dynamic range of 13 (SNR=2). Even if the C400 is using a different sensor, it is described as being a stacked sensor, which is a counter example to your statement that stacked sensors make dynamic range worse. The R5 Mark II is rated at 13.3 stops (also a partially stacked sensor), beating the $25,000 sony burano at only 13.2 stops.

Finally we get a full tilt and swivel screen for Canon. I borrowed my friend’s A9iii and the swing everywhere screen is so useful. Now all Canon needs to do is approve more third party full frame lens options. 😅

Shutter angle is fantastic for video use. It prevents errors and makes setting shutter speed based on frame rate completely obsolete.

I mostly use the EVF, as it helps anchor the camera against unwanted motion and shields out most extraneous light and reflections, unlike an LCD. I understand the R6MkIII will have a full-size HDMI. I really want to see all these modern cameras with 2 Express slots because at this price point the Express component isn't a big cost to install and being able to mirror data would be great. I use both the evf and the screen. With a decent shutter speed using electronic shutter there is little chance of camera shake. I do hate the flip out screen design much preferring Sonys new design or Nikons and I even prefer the A1's screen.

R6III - An EOS R3 for cheaper.... since the R6 Mark I was essentially a 1DX Mark 3 for cheaper...the specs are looking great at that price point..

As someone who does a lot of event photography, I would love to have eye-control AF. I get that might be too much to ask for in a camera that isn't an R1, 3 or 5, but I've heard rumors that might be included in the R6 Mark III and so one can hope.

I'm not a big flip screen user, or a screen user at all, so I'm not sure how much I'd care about this. My eyes aren't great so the EVF is where I live. My default setting is screen folded in. Those "improved" screens don't seem to lie as flush with the back of the camera which might be seen as a negative by R1 users. Agree that the flip out can be awkward when I actually use it.

What would I like to see in R6mk3 ? I have R6 since summer 2020 , got me a 2nd R6 in 2021 , then skipped R6mk2 (because I got me R5C ) but got R8 ... for extreme low light I would like R6mk3 to beat the extreme low light / ISO of Sony a7S, a7S2, a7S3 ... or get a dual or triple base-ISO , like the C80 ... Base ISO 12800 , wow... that would be neat. Don't need 8K but 4K120 would be cool, like on R5, R5C... yup, if I can get an R6mk3 with ISO 409600 and 4K120 , you can already pre-order one for me. ;-)

You asked what I wanted to see. I want the R1's sensor and focus system in a body that allows the use of an add-on vertical grip when needed. Give it all the capability of the R1 that is technically possible to fit into the smaller form factor, price be damned. If that ends up being too expensive to be an R6, Canon can brand it as an R4. If they instead want to dismay/delight Star Wars lovers, they can call it the R2. 😁

If the R6II can do 40 FPS why would the MKIII with a stacked sensor do less. Both make Sonys A7IV look ridiculously slow and I'm a Sony shooter. If the R6III is stacked and with the Z6III being partially stacked Sony have some catching up to do with the A7V. They will have to break with their trend of using a sensor for two camera generations. A1 and II A9 and II A7Riv and V

Would be an interesting statement lens, but with the recently released RF 35 mm f1.4 VCM lens I really hope Canon focuses on other lenses. The f1.4 VCM lens is an excellent lens and great for low-light travel photography due to its small size and lightweight.

Exaggerate much, Jared? The highest price I ever saw for Photoshop was $550... and since I instead did an upgrade every other version, the most I actually paid was around half of that. Similarly, Lightroom sold for $150, but the last couple versions were quietly offered via upgrades for under $100 (Adobe tried to hide LR upgrades). Ultimately I spent less that $350 every three or four years purchasing PS and LR... So, yeah, the $120 a year subscription ain't bad. But it is nowhere near the bargain you suggest.

The Canon R5II has issues with stabilization when it does not work with RF lenses and the buffer fill sup fast and locks you from shooting. So the R6III will not solves these problems. What's the point of having a fast burst if the camera cannot handle it?

I believe it has waveforms also with that update. Does the other flagships have a 45 mp? The best hybrid flagship right now. Sure the Z9 can drop the megapixel and get more features, but why? over 90% of my photos in dark hocky rinks are in focus, don't know why you have issues. I tried a Sony A1 and at the end of the day had the same results in the focus department. I am more of a lens guy and the long primes and zooms in the Nikon ecosystem are the best. I don't worry about camera bodies because every couple of years one brand will have a slight edge of the other.
