Hi Paul. I like watching your tutorials. I’ve had my Canon tr7 for just over a year, and I’ve just started to get more serious about using all the buttons and gadgets. Being on the elderly side, I don’t always catch things the first time but….. I love that I can play the tutorials over again.

I've had my 800D since 2017 and never really knew what I was doing. I stuck it on AV and hoped for the best. That * sort of* worked, but I grew disillusioned and the camera was consigned to the cupboard. This vid re-ignited my interest. Very helpful, thank you.

Maybe you could make a video of how to take pictures in winter so that the snow was white and not gray or blue. How do I set the exposure compensation and white balance? Because so far my photos are in shades of gray and I am a beginner in photography. By the way, you are doing a really good job. I am from Poland and I have already watched all your films and I watch them on a regular basis, it is fun to watch them and I found out a lot through them. Regards, and keep going 😊
@clairehachey21893 жыл бұрын
If you want the snow to look white I would suggest increasing your exposure by +1 stop. I had the same problem as you with snow looking either blue or gray a few years ago. Try this and take a few photos to see how they turn out. I usually increase my exposure anywhere between +1 to +1.5 and do test shots. Good luck with your winter photography ❄⛄

I have a question. I have a Canon Rebel T7. When I am in Tv mode and I try changing the exposure compensation, I press the shutter button like you showed to have my camera automatically adjust the aperture but when I turn the dial to change the exposure the aperture just flashes on F4.0 and does not change when I change the exposure. Why does mine not change but yours does? Thank you for your help.
@brucesmith91442 жыл бұрын
This is because the aperture opening on your lens can only open to a maximum of f/4.0. You will need to increase the camera ISO such that the desired shutter speed (Tv) and aperture (> f4.0) render a proper exposure. It may be good to set the camera ISO to AUTO so you can change the exposure compensation. Also keep in mind that the maximum aperture may vary by focal length if it is a zoom lens.
@joesmalltown63033 жыл бұрын
When you take the pictures you use as examples do you use the lens that comes with the camera or do you have an upgraded one you use?

Hi Paul. Great video, thanks. Is it possible to take a shot on the Rebel T7 with Live View on? I’ve found when using Live View for composing, that the shutter button won’t depress fully until I go back to the normal display and I have to use the viewfinder. 🤷🏻♂️
@photogenius3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - when using Live View the focus may be slower, so hold the shutter halfway down and wait for the lens to focus - then depress fully. If this does not work try manual focus.

@brianmoore77622 жыл бұрын
Paul, I have a Canon rebel T7i. I have tried more than once to set up my focus function to "back-button focus". This was to prevent my camera from refocusing each time I partly depressed the shutter button. For a while after I set the focus function to the back button it seemed to work fine with no focusing from the shutter button. BUT, after a while the focus started changing when I partly pressed the shutter button AND still focused with pressing the back-button. Some time later I tried resetting the focus function to back-button again. Once again it worked for a while, but then reverted to focusing with both the shutter button and the back-button. HELP! What, if anything, can I do to permanently set up and retain back-button focusing AND prevent any further shutter button focusing??? Thank you.
@RadioJonophone3 жыл бұрын
When looking through the viewfinder and half pressing the shutter button, you will see the auto-focus red dots. Use these to align your camera to the subject.

@Goldchucker13 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul: As I understand that after you set the ISO and shutter speed, if the F setting starts flashing after pressing down the shutter button half way, this is an indication that the shutter speed needs to be lowered or the ISO could be raised to stop the F setting from flashing. Is this correct? Chuck

As a mirrorless shooter, a lot of your tips doesn't work for me. I don't have a ISO or AV button. I did learn something new about my dial! I thought that for me to change ISO/Aperture or Shutter Speed, I had to first touch the option on my screen, then I can use the dial to change it. However I now know that there is a little gear symbol that is always on either Aperture or Shutter Speed, so I can always change which ever one the gear is on. With realizing a button I've touch before will switch the gear between the two, I can now look through the EVF and change the two most important settings. So thanks for that. I've also notice the flashing notices on the histogram. So that's a second tip that was still useful to me. Thanks.

Great video as always. I bought a Canon T7 6 months ago from Best Buy. It didn't come with a battery charger nor did Best Buy offer one or even have the ability to order one. If you are thinking about buying a Canon camera buy the battery charger first. Best Buy did offer to sell me new batteries every time my batteries went dead. I'm on my second battery now but only use my Canon sparingly. Very sparingly. Does anyone know where I could buy a battery charger? Love to follow along with your great videos but can't afford to turn my camera on very often.

This sounds ridiculousness. Pretty sure all Canon cameras would come with a charger. This seems like you brought a camera that was returned and someone took out the charger. And offering to sell new batteries sounds criminal. I would contact Canon. It might be too long for them to do something about it, but they need to hear about this.
