I've done this. I've put the paper in. Tried to print my first page and it just keeps telling me to load paper. It doesn't feed the paper at all. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

What happens to Canon usual top loading paper tray? Don't follow HP failed footstep. The internal paper loading tray sucks and it jams paper like crazy. Canon has been my favorite printer until now.

Hi I'm setting up my printer right now. I have decided to copy some documents I have and when I insert the plain paper, the paper always crumple up while its copying. I have looked at the video varies times but I still end up with paper jams

Is there a video for scanning on this printer?? I can hardly scan anything!!!!! I had an MX390 before this and it was so much better. How do I scan on this?? Image Garden doesn't tell me what folder/file I'm looking at when I scan and I can't find the images!!

Hello there! I'm desperately trying to find a video or information about how I change a black ink cartridge! I have a FRONT paper loading/dispensing printer, the sticker on it says PIXMA MX492. When I look at your website and click on PIXMA MX492, it shows a completely different printer than what I own. PLEASE HELP!! I'm just trying to do a simple little thing and I can't even figure out WHERE the cartridges are! Every panel I open does not have any cartridges visible for me to switch out. Hopefully, it's something simple and I can just say, "duh..."

Though we've been unable to locate the records on the exact paper used in this eight year old video, we did find the following types of paper are compatible with the PIXMA MX492: Plain: Plain Paper, High Resolution Paper; Super High Gloss: Photo Paper Pro Platinum; Glossy: Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, Photo Paper Glossy; Semi-Gloss: Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss, Photo Paper Pro Luster; Matte: Matte Photo Paper; Envelope: U.S. #10 Envelope And the following sizes are compatible: 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", Letter, Legal, U.S.#10 Envelopes. Hi, Lou! The PIXMA MX492 offers single-sided printing only. You can get double-sided printing by flipping the paper over and feeding it through the printer a second time. When the paper is loaded in the cassette, print goes onto the side that's facing down. The top of the page goes in first. To feed a sheet through to print on the back, reinsert the page with the already-printed side facing up and the blank side facing down. The top of the page still goes in first. We should also point out that this printer is designed to use plain paper between 64 and 105 gsm in addition to genuine Canon photo paper. Use of paper outside of that weight range can result in paper jams. We hope this helps!

Hi there, we're sorry to hear you're running into trouble and want to help! Once you've placed the original document where it needs to go, you should only need to press the BLACK or COLOR button to begin the copying process. One aspect that can cause the error you are seeing is if you are loading the paper where the scanned page comes out instead of where it goes in. Do you see the notch immediately to the right of the LCD screen? Lift that and load the paper there. Make sure the adjustable guides line up with the edges of the page. When you start your copy, the original will be pulled in and it will come out in the tray immediately beneath it. However, if you are loading the paper here and the error continues, we're confident our support team can look into this further and ensure you are copying again at Canon.us/ContactYT. Thanks!

I put the paper where you told me. It's sucking in the paper and at the same time giving me the error message saying the size type of loaded paper is different. It is not. It is the same as what is on the platen. Can you please describe where you put the original and where you put the paper that is being used to make the copies. I can't believe I've spent 2 hours on this. Never again.

Hi, thanks for the updated information. There are two sources you can load the original document you wish to copy. In addition to the platen glass, you can load it into the document feeder. Check out the following link for an illustration showing where: Canon.us/wm8b The paper being used to make the copies will be loaded into the paper tray as shown in this video. Hi, Jul Ann! The PIXMA MX492 pulls all of its blank paper in through the paper tray in the front. The mechanism on the top is the automatic document feeder, and that lets you scan or copy multiple pages in a single operation. We hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply. When the Print dialog box is open, you can click on [Properties] > [Paper/Quality] > [Advanced], then set the Paper Size to [Legal 8.5" x 14" 22x36cm]. We hope this helps!
