A little wild camp, with some epic canteen cup cookery and I get visited by a family of badgers.
A really memorable night out.

Just ordered one of your puck stoves. I also enjoy those cheap noodles for a snack. I find that I can just pour boiling water on them and leave them for a while and they cook. It saves fuel. Cheap supermarket couscous makes a good lunch too. Fry up a small onion and a mushroom. Add a sliced pepperami, or tin of sardines. Whem part cooked, add the watercouscous and seasoning, Cooks quick and is tasty, as well as cheap. I always enjoy your videos.

Good video as always. You'll get the most from your oil sachet if you let it warm unopened on top of, or partly submerged in, your hot noodles first. The heat will liquify the congealed contents and they'll pour out when the packet is snipped. Like others have said, no need to boil the noodles. Just steep in boiled water and they'll absorb it all. As a chef, I'd say they have a better texture that way. Not mushy or stuck to the cup bottom. I crack a raw egg into mine too. Cooks a treat with the residual heat. Thanks for posting the video.

👍👍👍 .. nice. Noodles .. always a good base to work from. This time of the year, an off-the-ground camp out is a good idea. Here in Northern Switzerland this year, the Tick infestation is horrendous 😳. And with reputedly 50% of the little blighters infected with Lyme Disease, one cannot be too careful. Except for Sundays (Family Fry Up Day), I like to use my Outdoor Kit for my breakfast / brunch (I'm retired) .. whether in the forest, a local park, river bank or on my 3rd floor flat balcony. I do a Nordic Walk each morning early and was mulling over during, what kit I was going to 'brunch with' (after the Pooch has had her morning stroll and subsequent tick inspection 🙄😏). Watching this post has decided .. it'll be the Canteen Cup en al. Always an informative pleasure watching your Posts .. thanks. Until next time then, take care ..

From South Africa a question if you be so kind. BACKGROUND Only once, back in the mid 70's, during the Angolan Bush war did I see the canteen pot stand, and can't rember its design. Here, in SA we don't get much in the way of camp cookware, so anything not off the Chinese shelf is.... well, unobtainable here, and to buy is he'll on the budget. CURRENTLY. So I set to work on a canteen pot to turn it into a stand,, and cut it to pack-fit around the canteen pot, but still fit into the pattern 72 waterbottle pouch-------a nice bit of nesting kit, that works well. However, my design has 4 tabs that are bent inwards to form a platform, onto of which the pot sits, this means the stand and the pot can be separated, the stand left to protect / shield the fire / emanating light, which of course, during military operations in the Bush is paramount, to say the lest. THE NUB OF THE QUESTION Yours, I note, sits tightly round the bottom of your canteen pot, I assume, necessitating removing the stand from the fire / light source. With this in mind, which design concept. In your knowledgeable opinion would be better ?

Oh yes, I eat noodles a lot but put the sachet contents in right way. I add the chilli seeds and all, I also have some dried vegetables and soak them a while before. I have a special microwaveable plastic tub with locking lid and a tiny vent in the top. I pour boiling water on from the kettle and they're done in 2 minutes. I have noodles for work lunch most days. I like the peanut idea though. Love the sound of corvids.

Great video Neil, great supper too. Easy to make, and easy to carry! I'm not so sure about the chemical bug reppeliant tho......why not use a hammock with a mosquitonet? That way you will have a smaller impact on the enviroment....👌😎🏕

Good point .. however many do like to look to alternatives. I have used those little 'anti-mosquito mats' for many, many years .. in electrical units at home and also with little oil lamps. Technology now gives us access to handy little gas / battery powered outdoor units. Perhaps not for everyone (I don't own one .. yet) but then, it's nice to have a choice. Mosquito nets do not do very well around a fire / cooking and given the choices between being bitten to distraction, covering up completely, drenching one's clothing, self in chemicals, smothered by fire smoke or having an effective anti-bug nearby .. hmm 🤔.
