This song was written either by Airas Nunes, a Galician troubador or Alfonso X, the King of Castile, Leon and Galicia whose mother was Elisabeth of Swabia, a German princess. Elisabeth's mother was Irene Angelina, the daughter of Emperor Isaac II Angelos of the Byzantine Empire. So, Alfonso X's grandmother was a Greek. The greater European legacy, eh?
